Yell has secured another week to agree a refinancing deal for its £3.8 billion debt mountain. The group had received backing from a 'high percentage' of its 300 creditors by October 16, 2009 deadline but needed more time to achieve the 95% approval rate by value. Yell is said to have offered to raise £500 million to pay off some of the debt.

Yell Group plc announced that Toby Coppel has been appointed an independent Non Executive Director with immediate effect. Toby (aged 37) was, from April 2007 to December 2008, Managing Director of Yahoo! Europe.

Yell Group plc reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the year ended June 30, 2009. For the year, the company reported profit of $14.9 million or 1.9 pence per diluted share on revenue of $475.3 million against profit of $36.2 million or 4.6 pence per diluted share on revenue of $468.4 million for the same period a year ago. Operating profit was $99.9 million against $113.5 million for the same period a year ago. Profit before taxation was $18.5 million against $46.5 million for the same period a year ago. Net cash inflow from operating activities was $132.1 million against $85.8 million for the same period a year ago. Purchase of software, property, plant and equipment was $13.5 million against $10.9 million for the same period a year ago. Adjusted EBITDA was $148.0 million against $160.8 million for the same period a year ago.
