It operates in three segments: Personal Communication Services (PCS), Home Communication Services (HCS), and Enterprise Communication Services (ECS). The PCS segment provides mobile telecommunications services. The HCS segment offers the fixed-line telecommunications services, including fixed-line telephony, Internet services, and services to operators, as well as engages in the distribution activities and support functions. The ECS segment provides business communication solutions and services, as well as data transmission services, including low and high-speed Internet, data transmission, and leased lines services. In addition, France Telecom offers integration, project consulting, management, and platform services. Further, it provides broadcast services and network equipment sales. The company also offers telecommunication services in Kenya. It has a strategic partnership with Sonaecom. France Telecom also has a 50-50 joint venture agreement with Deutsche Telekom AG. The company was founded in 1990 and is headquartered in Paris, France.

France Telecom Announces Executive Changes

France Telecom announced executive changes. Louis-Pierre Wenes, the current Deputy CEO in charge of Operations in France has asked Didier Lombard, Chairman and CEO of the company to relieve him of his responsibilities. Didier Lombard has accepted this request and thanks Louis-Pierre for all that he has accomplished since December 2002 and for the significant contribution that he has made to the turnaround and the performance of the Group. Stephane Richard is appointed Deputy CEO in charge of Operations in France.

France Telecom May Seek Acquisitions

France Telecom reported 8% drop in profit for the third-quarter profit. The company stated that it does not plan to make major acquisitions, but is attentive to consolidation opportunities in emerging market. Chief Financial Officer of the company, Gervais Pellissier said that the company will pay attention to consolidation opportunities in emerging markets where the company is already present.

France Telecom Reports Earnings Results for the Third Quarter and Nine Months of 2009

France Telecom reported earnings results for the third quarter and nine months of 2009. The company reported that its turnover for the third quarter of 2009 fell by 6.4%, to €12.686 billion ($18.7 billion), compared to the same period last year. While third-quarter earnings were down everywhere but Africa and the Middle East, France Telecom turnover sank particularly in Britain (minus 15.3%) and Poland (off 29.3%). Turnover for the first three quarters of 2009 was off by 4.3%, compared to 2008, to €38.144 billion.
