Shenhua Group Selects Huawei's eLTE solution for Railway LTE Project

Shenhua Group Corporation has selected eLTE solution for Shuo Huang Railway, or SHR, LTE project from Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. The SHR, with an operating route length of 594 kilometers, is a critical railway section for China's West-to-East Coal Transfer project. Shenhua hoped to expand the railway's capacity to transfer 350 million tons of coal and needed to maintain efficient and safe operations of 20,000 ton capacity heavy-haul trains. A wireless broadband system was required to communicate between the master-slave locomotives located at both ends of trains, which could be up to 2.5 kilometers apart. The railway's 800MHz and 400kHz communications system would not be able to support the expansion with its limited coverage distance and low reliability. Huawei eLTE solution has been tailored to the SHR and uses a 1.8G LTE TDD network to enable communications for 20,000-ton heavy-haul trains over long distances. The LTE network supports the multi-locomotive synchronous control system, controllable train tail system and other heavy-haul train services that require a reliable and secure communications system. With full network-element redundancy and a dual-network coverage and multi-priority Quality of Service (QoS) protection mechanism, Huawei eLTE network ensures 99.999% system availability and guarantees that there will be no service interruptions.

Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. Unveils Distributed Converged Cable Access Platform for MSO Industry

Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. unveiled the distributed converged cable access platform, or D-CCAP, for the MSO industry. Compared with traditional CMTS, D-CCAP can converge with FTTx, saving 70% of hub space, 50% of power consumption and 80% of trunk fiber resource. Huawei's DOCSIS 3.1-based distributed CCAP solution employs Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) in the upstream to support simultaneous access of multiple users over a single coaxial cable, and broadcasts data to downstream users divided into different groups using the multiple modulation profile (MMP) technology, drastically enhancing the spectrum efficiency. Synergizing the key technologies of DOCSIS 3.1, such as physical-layer high-order modulation (16K QAM downstream and 4K QAM upstream) and low-density parity-check (LDPC) codec, distributed CCAP delivers 2.3 Gbit/s downstream and 1 Gbit/s upstream over a single channel, making it the line rate possible over coaxial cables in the industry. Compared with DOCSIS 3.0, DOCSIS 3.1 is significantly enhanced in terms of spectrum efficiency and bandwidth, and is therefore able to deliver a smoother audiovisual experience with Internet services to users. Huawei's DOCSIS 3.0-supporting distributed CCAP solution is able to smoothly evolve to DOCSIS 3.1. Leveraging the superior performance of DOCSIS 3.1 in high-order modulation at the physical layer, distributed CCAP helps carriers build ultra-broadband cable access networks, and extends the lifecycle of the existing hybrid fiber coaxial (HFC) networks by another decade.

Huawei Opens Technical Assistance Centre in Middle East

Huawei has announced the launch of a Technical Assistance Center, an online portal to help end-users with ICT queries in Middle East. The portal connects partners and end-users with technical support queries to a qualified engineer that can identify and resolve ICT issues related to the company's Enterprise Systems. The online system, run through Enterprise Systems' website, was launched with the understanding that end-users need a first and second line technical support.
