Scorpio Tankers Inc. announced that it has taken delivery of a MR product tanker newbuilding, STI Opera, from Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co., Ltd. The vessel will be time chartered-out for up to 120 days at approximately $19,000 per day.

Yara Enters into Shipbuilding Contracts with Hyundai Mipo Dockyard

Yara announced that it has entered into an agreement with Hyundai Mipo Dockyard for the construction and delivery of threeliquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers. Each of the semi-refrigerated vessels will have a capacity of 20,600 cbm, and will be used to transport ammonia. Projected cost per vessel stands at $51 million, with two of the ships to have ice-class capability. The decision to commission new carrier ships follows an evaluation of current new-build and time charter rates, with the new vessels to replace existing time-chartered vessels. The company currently has a fleet of 16-18 time-chartered vessels serving its European plants, and long-term off-take agreements in Trinidad and Australia.

Yara International ASA Enters into Shipbuilding Contracts with Hyundai Mipo Dockyard

Yara International ASA has entered into shipbuilding contracts with Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) for the construction and delivery of 2 mid-size LPG carriers with an expected cost per vessel of USD 51 million. Following an evaluation of current new-build and time charter rates, Yara has chosen to build new vessels to cover part of its long-term transport requirement at attractive rates, meet stricter environmental regulations and maintain flexibility to serve Yara's production system. Yara has a base ammonia transport requirement of approximately 4 million tons per annum to serve its European plants and long-term off-take agreements in Trinidad and Australia.
