NCsoft Corporation reported earnings results for the first quarter of 2013. The company posted sales of KRW 184.9 billion, which is a 35% decrease quarter-on-quarter, but 31% increase year on year. This is mainly due to the Guild Wars 2 business model, which recognizes the lion's share of box sales immediately after the launch. The top line has been robust with strong Lineage I and Guild Wars 2 sales and a meaningful recovery in Aion's performance. Operating profit dropped 51% quarter-on-quarter, but grew 348% year-on-year to post KRW 55.5 billion. This year-on-year expansion in operating profit was driven by strong sales and less labor cost, marketing spend and baseball team-related one-off expenses. Net income went down 49% quarter-on-quarter, but was up 322% year on year at KRW 52.3 billion.
