Fortis Healthcare Limited owns, operates, and manages multi-specialty hospitals. Its healthcare facilities offer a range of specialty medical services, such as cardiac care, orthopaedics, neurosciences, metabolic diseases, renal care, oncology, and mother and child care, as well as other services, such as cosmetic surgery, ophthalmology, pulmonology, ear nose throat care, and dermatology. As of January 16, 2014, it operated a network of 65 healthcare facilities, approximately 10,000 beds, and approximately 240 diagnostic centers in India, Singapore, Dubai, Mauritius, and Sri Lanka. Fortis Healthcare Limited was formerly known as Fortis Healthcare (India) Limited and changed its name to Fortis Healthcare Limited in March 2012. The company was incorporated in 1996 and is based in New Delhi, India. Fortis Healthcare Limited is a subsidiary of Fortis Healthcare Holdings Private Limited.

Apollo, Fortis, Narayana To Reportedly Bid For Westbank

Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited (BSE:508869), Fortis Healthcare Limited (BSE:532843) and Narayana Health have reportedly placed their bids to acquire Westbank Hospital, five senior industry executives reported. AMRI Hospitals Ltd. may also place a bid. Bicky Chakraborty is planning to sell off two facilities, sources said. Deloitte will handle the sale. Westbank Director Asish Chakraborty denied any such plans and said, "It's a rumour and I would not like to make any comment."

Fortis Healthcare Limited Reports Unaudited Consolidated and Standalone Earnings Results for the First Quarter Ended June 30, 2014

Fortis Healthcare Limited reported unaudited consolidated and standalone earnings results for the first quarter ended June 30, 2014. For the quarter, on consolidated basis, the company reported income from operations of INR 10,094.0 million against INR 15,036.3 million a year ago. Profit from operations before other income, financial cost, depreciation and amortization was INR 515.1 million against INR 140.5 million a year ago. Loss from operations before tax was INR 614.2 million against INR 2,035.7 million a year ago. Net loss from ordinary activities after tax was INR 657.8 million against INR 2,194.0 million a year ago. Basic and diluted loss per share was INR 1.03 against INR 3.20 a year ago. Net debt of the company has come down to INR 32,830 million. For the quarter, on standalone basis, the company reported income from operations of INR 1,478.4 million against INR 942.8 million a year ago. Profit from operations before other income, financial cost, depreciation and amortization was INR 174.1 million against INR 356.5 million a year ago. Loss from operations before tax was INR 121.6 million against profit from operations before tax of INR 89.9 million a year ago. Net loss from ordinary activities after tax was INR 121.6 million against net profit from ordinary activities after tax of INR 75.4 million a year ago. Basic and diluted loss per share was INR 0.32 against basic and diluted earnings per share of INR 0.18 a year ago.

Cesca Therapeutics and Fortis Healthcare Limited Announce Master Collaboration Agreement

Cesca Therapeutics and Fortis Healthcare Limited announced a master collaboration agreement that extends their important existing relationship. The agreement affirms Cesca's cellular therapy and cord blood bank at the Fortis Hospital Memorial Research Institute (FMRI) in Gurgaon, renews the cord blood banking collaboration and launches the stem cell therapy services for hematological diseases across the Fortis network. The scope of services now provide for specific regenerative medicine programs including: cord blood banking services, point of care autologous cell therapy product and services, hematopoietic stem cell therapy services (i.e. both autologous and allogeneic bone marrow transplant) and oncological cellular therapy services. Fortis Healthcare and Cesca Therapeutics will continue to leverage Fortis' hospital network and respective areas of clinical expertise to launch world-class matched and unmatched bone marrow transplants and create more awareness around the benefits of stem cell therapy across India.
