humax co ltd (115160) Key Developments
Humax Co., Ltd., Annual General Meeting, Mar 29, 2013., at 09:00 Korea Standard Time. Agenda: To consider the quaternary financial statements (including connections) and the appropriation of retained earnings; to consider the election of director; to consider the director approval of remuneration limit; and to consider the audit fees limit.
Humax Co., Ltd. and Entropic Communications, Inc. announced an IP-based set-top box (STB) based on hardware and software specifications developed by Comcast. The Humax client device enables cable subscribers to view a rich set of IP-based video services at any TV in the home. The device can run native and cloud-based applications and provides a highly-efficient, media and graphics-rich end-user experience. The Humax client solution is powered by Entropic's TSC188 CPU, a dual-core ARM(R) Cortex(TM) A9 solution bundled with Entropic's Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA(R)) silicon and software to provide reliable whole-home network connectivity. The Humax device features both NTSC and HDMI outputs enabling it to connect to a TV or other external media device. The Humax unit, which recently passed FCC certification, will function as a video client to multi-tuner gateway servers. The compact Humax device includes recording functionality. The DVR feature works in conjunction with the multi-tuner hybrid gateway server and the on-board SD Card lets the IP set-top-box stream and play back programming using the MoCA specification. The Humax device provides NTSC and HDMI outputs, as well as MoCA, Ethernet and HDMI inputs. It also includes a USB port, which can be used to connect to a USB storage device for bringing additional entertainment to the TV screen. Development for the new Humax client solution leverages Comcast's RDK. The RDK provides a framework to enable device manufacturers to rapidly develop, optimize and deploy new broadcast and IP-based solutions for richer consumer TV experiences.
Humax Co., Ltd. announced the recent approval for production of their next generation DIRECTV HR44-500 "Genie" server, which will be combined with the Humax-manufactured C41-500 "mini Genie" client which is currently undergoing final certification. Both models were developed in compliance with the RVU protocol, as managed by the RVU Alliance. This is the second generation RVU server and client solution, following the successful deployment of the DIRECTV HR34 and C31 models in 2011 and 2012 respectively. The company developed this solution according to the DIRECTV Common Driver Interface (CDI) standard, which has been the foundation of many successful DIRECTV HD set-top box development programs. Using the proven CDI standard allowed for rapid time to production, reducing the overall development time of the HR44-500 and C41-500 platforms to less than one year. The introduction of the HR44-500 and C41-500 second generation home media server solution showcases leadership position and development expertise in the home gateway server market. The DIRECTV "Genie" solution's RVU protocol is based on DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) and is part of the DLNA Premium Video guidelines. These guidelines allow for the streaming of HD video to the "mini Genie" clients and other compatible CE devices, providing a consistent Remote User Interface (RUI) across all connected platforms.
