China Steel Corporation manufactures and sells steel products in Taiwan. The company offers plate products used in manufacturing construction structures, ship building, bridges, line pipes, machine structures, pressure vessels, and atmospheric-resistance and corrosion resistance plate products; steel bars and wire rods used in manufacturing general and machine structures, cold and hot forging, hard wires, and welding electrodes; and hot-rolled coils and sheets used in automobile frames, bridges, construction structures, freeway fences, pipes, pressure vessels, and gardening tools, etc. It also provides cold rolled parts used in producing automobile body parts, home appliances, steel drums, piping, structures or reinforcing parts, chains, and porcelain enameling treatment. In addition, the company offers coated products, including colored steel coils used in roofing and walling, appliances, kitchenware, furniture, transportation vehicle materials, interior decoration materials, etc.; electrical steel coils used in motor cores, transformers, stabilizers, relays, and electric panel cores; electro-galvanized coils used in baked painting, laminated steel, computer cases, furniture appliances, and drawing parts; and hot-dip galvanized coils and galvanneal steel coils used in color steels, construction materials, computer cases, furniture, slip rails, wind tubes, etc. Further, it is involved in the mechanical, communications, and electrical engineering activities. The company was founded in 1971 and is headquartered in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

Companhia Siderurgica Nacional and Asian Partners Agree to Proceed with Tie-Up of Mining, Logistics Units

Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA or CSN and its Asian partners in the Namisa iron ore venture have agreed to proceed with the tie-up of their mining and logistics operations. CSN's partners in the joint venture are Japanese trader Itochu Corp, Nisshin Steel Co Ltd, JFE Steel Corp, Kobe Steel Ltd, Posco Ltd. China Steel Corp. The Brazilian group holds 60% of the Namisa venture. CSN's board has cleared the company to transfer its Namura assets to its Congonhas Minerios SA unit. Under the terms of the transaction, CSN will hold 88.25% of Congonhas, with the Asian companies owning the rest on a cash and debt-free basis. The deal, which was announced last month, is subject to the parties agreeing on a business plan, as well as to regulatory and antitrust clearances. The transaction is now expected to close in 2015.

China Steel Corp. announced preliminary consolidated earnings results for the month and year to date ended September 2014. Operating revenues in September 2014 totaled TWD 30,857 million, with an increase of 0.3% month on month. The consolidated operating income reached TWD 2,687 million, with a decrease of 16% month on month. The preliminary consolidated income before income tax totaled TWD 2,966 million, with an increase of 3% month on month. For the year to date, operating revenues were TWD 276,846 million, operating income was TWD 20,260 million and income before income tax was TWD 20,265 million. The sales volume of carbon steel in September 2014 totaled 838,719 tones, with 65% of domestic sales. Accumulated sales volume of carbon steel as of September 2014 totaled 7,270,397 tones, with 65% of domestic sales.
