MedAssets, Inc., a financial and performance improvement company, provides technology-enabled products and services for hospitals, health systems, and other ancillary healthcare providers in the United States. It operates in two segments, Spend and Clinical Resource Management (SCM) and Revenue Cycle Management (RCM). The SCM segment provides a suite of cost management services, supply chain analytics, and data capabilities; strategic sourcing and group purchasing services; medical device and clinical resource consulting services; lean performance improvement services; workforce management; and supply chain outsourcing and procurement services. This segment is also involved in the provision of business intelligence and decision support tool services. The RCM segment offers a suite of software as a service or Web-based software and technology-enabled services, which address various revenue cycle processes comprising patient access and financial responsibility, clinical documentation, charge capture and revenue integrity, pricing analysis, claims processing, denials management and reimbursement integrity, payer contract management, extended business office revenue recovery, accounts receivable services, and outsourcing services. As of December 31, 2013, the company served approximately 4,400 acute care hospitals and approximately 122,000 ancillary or non-acute provider locations. MedAssets, Inc. was incorporated in 1999 and is headquartered in Alpharetta, Georgia.

LHP Hospital Renews and Expands Relationship with MedAssets

LHP Hospital Group, Inc. has renewed and expanded its relationship with MedAssets, Inc. In its advisory services role, MedAssets will deploy a wide array of its total cost management and clinical alignment solutions to streamline processes and improve performance across the 1,333-bed, six-hospital healthcare group, including Supply Chain Solutions, Procure-to-Pay Solutions, Cost Analytics and Operational Improvement Solutions. The new agreement builds upon the existing relationship and the deployment at LHP's hospitals of MedAssets Strategic Sourcing.

Baylor Scott & White Health Chooses MedAssets for Procurement Operations

MedAssets announced that Baylor Scott & White Health has moved from its current eCommerce provider to the MedAssets eCommerce Exchange, an integral component of MedAssets Procure-to-Pay Solutions. Plans call for an enterprise-wide implementation of MedAssets eCommerce Exchange, a proprietary platform designed to automate purchasing operations; and Transaction Management Services, a solution designed to resolve root causes of pricing mismatches between transacting parties, while providing increased visibility to the organization's supply expenditures. The Baylor Scott & White Health agreement comes as MedAssets introduces new choice and affordability to the marketplace. The company has made a significant investment in infrastructure to expand the availability of its proprietary eCommerce Exchange platform to any provider regardless of their group purchasing organization affiliation, while protecting the security and confidentiality of the providers' transaction data.

MedAssets Introduces New Supplier Services to Improve the Efficiency and Transparency of Healthcare

MedAssets announced it plans to offer a new suite of supplier services designed to optimize procurement processes among all healthcare industry players. The new services will provide manufacturers and distributors of products with accelerated advancement in price synchronization, data accuracy and controls to improve critical connections with mutual healthcare provider clients. In doing so, MedAssets is committed to help resolve a significant source of resource waste in the healthcare industry stemming from disparate and disconnected systems and processes between buyers and sellers of supplies. The new supplier services from MedAssets also coincide with the company's recent investments in Transaction Management and its eCommerce Exchange services, the latter of which has opened up MedAssets proprietary eCommerce platform to non-group purchasing organization clients to deliver choice to the marketplace.
