The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China's London Branch Opens for Business

The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China recently announced the opening of its London branch, which is the first branch set up by a Mainland Chinese bank in the UK since the establishment of New China. Together with the bank's existing London sub-branch that will focus on retail and small and medium-sized enterprise business, the new branch will engage in commercial bank business with a focus on big wholesale business. ICBC is moving forward with its plan to acquire a majority stake in Standard Bank Plc and after the completion of the deal, the target company will become the overseas business of ICBC in the commodity, currency and capital markets, according to Jiang.

Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Limited and Transaero Airlines Sign Partnership Agreement

Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and Transaero Airlines have signed a Partnership Agreement to attract funding for the company. ICBC will provide a range of legal and marketing services aimed at attracting investments into Transaero Airlines. ICBC holds a unique position both on its domestic and international markets. The bank has significant competencies in various financial areas and solid experience in cross-border investing and financing. The airline and ICBC have already been cooperating before the signing of the agreement. Transaero and ICBC Leasing signed a contract for six Airbus A321 aircraft, with the first of these aircraft due to join Transaero's fleet in 2015.
