Renesas Electronics Corporation engages in the research, development, design, manufacture, sale, and servicing of semiconductor products worldwide. It offers products in the areas of microcontrollers, system on chips/system LSIs, and analog and power devices. The company’s products include microcontrollers and microprocessors; discrete products, such as power MOSFETs, diodes, insulated gate bipolar transistors, intelligent power devices, thyristors and triacs, and transistors; standard ICs, including power management linear, general-purpose linear, and general-purpose logic ICs; and radio frequency devices. Its products also comprise optical devices, such as photocouplers, OCMOSFET, fiberoptic devices, optical storage devices, optical sensors, and visible lasers; and application specific standard products (ASSP) consisting of ICs for PCs and PC peripherals, consumer electronics, automotives, and communications. In addition, it provides system LSIs consisting of automotive LSIs, LSIs for audio-visual devices, LSIs for communications and mobile devices, and factory automation LSIs; memory products, such as SRAM, EEPROM, low latency DRAM, and TCAM; and application specific integrated circuits (ASICs), including gate arrays, cell-based ICs, analog masters, mixed signal ASICs, customizable MCU (PFESiP), and programmable (XBridge), as well as system in package solutions and USB ASSPs. The company’s products have applications in computing and peripherals, consumer electronics, healthcare and medical, automotive, industrial, and communications products. Renesas Electronics Corporation was founded in 2002 and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.

Renesas Electronics Corporation announced that it will name Omron Corp. Chairman Hisao Sakuta as its chief executive officer and chairman as part of its efforts to turn around its corporate fortunes. Sakuta, 68, will lead the major automobile microcontroller maker after he leaves Omron on June 20. Renesas President Tetsuya Tsurumaru, who assumed the presidency in February, will retain his post. In June 2003, Sakuta became the first Omron president to come from outside its founding Tateishi family. He has since directed the control equipment maker to put greater emphasis on auto-related electronics parts.
