In addition, it provides professional solutions, such as broadcast- and professional-use products; CMOS image sensors, CCDs, system LSIs, small- and medium-sized LCD panels, and other semiconductors; batteries, audio/video/data recording media, storage media, optical pickups, chemical products, and optical disk drives; and materials and components for electronic devices, such as anisotropic conductive films. Further, the company is engaged in the acquisition, production, and distribution of television programs, animated motion pictures, and video content; operation of television networks and studios; and recorded music distribution, as well as music publishing businesses. Additionally, it provides various financial services, including life and non-life insurance, savings products, and loans; is involved in the research, development, design, production, marketing, sale, distribution, and servicing of mobile phones, tablets, accessories, and applications; offers Blu-ray disc, DVD, and CD media replication services, as well as digital and physical supply chain solutions to business customers in the entertainment, education, and information industries; and provides Internet broadband network services to subscribers. The company was formerly known as Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha and changed its name to Sony Corporation in January 1958. Sony Corporation was founded in 1946 and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.

Sony Corporation applied to each of the UK Listing Authority and the London Stock Exchange for the cancellation of the listing of Sony's shares of common stock (including depositary receipts representing such shares; hereinafter the same shall apply) on the Official List and the cancellation of admission to trading of such shares on the Regulated Market of the London Stock Exchange. Sony hereby announces that such delisting took effect from 8:00 a.m. (London time) on August 29, 2014.

Sony Launches New Mirror less Camera a5100

Sony unveiled the new mirror less camera α5100, which is one of the smallest and lightest interchangeable lens cameras in market. The 5100 camera features AF speed and tracking also found in the α6000 model, which allows it to acquire focus in 0.07 seconds, accurately tracking and responding to a subject moving through nearly the entire frame, whether shooting still images or full HD videos.

Sony Launches Xperia T3 in Netherlands

Sony has started sales of the Xperia T3 smartphone in the Netherlands for a recommended price of EUR 329. It's currently available in white and will be released soon in black and purple. The Xperia T3 features a 5.3-inch HD screen, 1.4 GHz quad core-processor, stainless steel casing and 4G support.
