Nidec Tosok Corporation announced unaudited earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended September 30, 2012. For the quarter, the company’s net sales to external customers were ¥8,345 million against ¥8,509 million a year ago. Net sales to other operating segments were ¥48 million against ¥29 million a year ago. Operating income was ¥626 million against ¥1,007 million a year ago. For the six months, the company’s net sales to external customers were ¥16,662 million against ¥15,365 million a year ago. Net sales to other operating segments were ¥97 million against ¥64 million a year ago. Total net sales increased by ¥1,330 million, or 8.6%, from ¥15,429 million for the six months ended September 30, 2011 to ¥16,759 million for the six months ended September 30, 2012. This increase was primarily due to an increase in customer demand for automotive parts. Operating income decreased by ¥375 million, or 28.5%, from ¥1,314 million for the six months ended September 30, 2011 to ¥939 million for the six months ended September 30, 2012. This decrease was primarily due to an increase in fixed costs resulting from investments to enhance the manufacturing and research and development operations.
