ORIX Corporation provides financial solutions in Japan, the United States, and internationally. It operates through six segments: Corporate Financial Services, Maintenance Leasing, Real Estate, Investment and Operation, Retail, and Overseas Business. The Corporate Financial Services segment is involved in the lending, leasing, and fee businesses. The Maintenance Leasing segment is engaged in automobile leasing, rental, and car sharing activities; lease and rental of precision measuring and information technology related equipment; and technical support, sale of software packages, equipment calibration, and asset management activities. The Real Estate segment develops and leases office buildings, commercial properties, logistics centers, and residential condominiums; and develops and operates hotels, Japanese inns, aquariums, golf courses, training and nursing care facilities, baseball stadiums, and theaters, as well as provides asset management and real estate finance, REIT asset management, and real estate investment advisory services. The Investment and Operation segment collects and disposes waste from end-of-lease assets; operates renewable energy source, such as solar projects and roof top power generation; invests in private equity; and invests in non-performing loans, as well as collects and manages commercial mortgage-backed securities. The Retail segment is involved in life insurance, banking, and card loan businesses. The Overseas Business segment is engaged in leasing, lending, investment in bonds, investment banking, asset management, and ship-and aircraft-related operations in the United States, Asia, Australasia, and Europe. The company was formerly known as Orient Leasing Co., Ltd. and changed its name to ORIX Corporation in 1989 to reflect its diversification into financial services other than leasing. ORIX Corporation was founded in 1964 and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.

ORIX Corporation and Kyudenko Fire Up 7.8MW Solar Plant in Kagoshima

ORIX Corporation and Kyudenko Corp. announced on Dec. 11, 2014, that they have started operation of a 7.786MW solar power plant in Kanoya City, Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan. The mega (large-scale) solar power plant, "Kagoshima Prefecture Kanoya City Kushira Power Plant," started power generation Dec. 1, 2014. K Clean Energy KK (Makurazaki City, Kagoshima Prefecture), an SPC (special purpose company) jointly established by the two companies, became the power producer for the plant. The SPC is 70% funded by Orix and 30% by Kyudenko. The Kagoshima Prefecture Kanoya City Kushira Power Plant is the SPC's second mega solar plant in operation, following the "Makurazaki City, Makurazaki Airport Power Plant Block No. 1 and Block No. 2" (output: 8.218MW) in Makurazaki City, Kagoshima Prefecture. The area of the plant site is about 89,480m2. And the plant is expected to generate 8,212,700kWh of electricity, which is equivalent to the amount consumed by 2,280 households, in the first year. Kyudenko is responsible for EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) and O&M (operation and maintenance) services. For the plant, 31,780 solar panels manufactured by Hanwha Q Cells GmbH and PV inverters manufactured by Toshiba Mitsubishi-Electric Industrial Systems Corp. (TMEIC) were employed.

Satoru Katahira appointed as Corporate Senior Vice President, Deputy Head of Domestic Sales Headquarters: Head of OQL Business, Regional Business and Administration Center, Responsible for IT Planning Office and President, ORIX Business Center Okinawa Corporation from Executive Officer, Domestic Sales Headquarters: Head of OQL Business, Regional Business and Administration Center, Responsible for IT Planning Office, President, ORIX Business Center Okinawa Corporation. Tetsuo Matsumoto appointed as Group Senior Vice President, Vice Chairman, ORIX Real Estate Corporation (Responsible for Special Assignments) from Vice Chairman, ORIX Real Estate Corporation (Responsible for Special Assignments). Changes are effective from January 1, 2015.

ORIX Corporation Forms Alliance with Experian plc

ORIX Corporation announced that it formed an alliance with a leading global information service company Experian plc ("Experian") in providing  corporate credit research information. Experian provides services including credit risk management, market research, and customer analysis to clients around the world. Experian issues various types of  reports  using its in­depth data analysis and sophisticated  corporate risk analysis that into account the characteristics and business customs of different countries. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 100 index. The company has global network that spans 39 countries and has its  corporate headquarters in Dublin, Ireland, with operational headquarters in Nottingham, UK; California,  US; and São Paulo, Brazil. ORIX seeks to support Japanese companies' overseas expansion plan using Experian's superb research ability and wealth of information. In response to the fast growing demands for information on foreign companies in recent years, ORIX will provide research information to clients that are entering into new transactions with foreign companies, and to those that wish to monitor their own existing foreign customers' credit information more effectively. ORIX currently supports overseas expansion plan of the Japanese companies by providing  financial  services such as leasing and rental using local subsidiaries' network mainly in Asia. In addition, ORIX supports Japanese companies' overseas expansion by enhancing alliances with domestic local  financial  institutions. Moving forward, ORIX will continue to contribute to clients' growth in foreign countries by providing new value­added service.
