Japan Airlines and American Airlines to Expand Codeshare Cooperation

Japan Airlines and American Airlines announced that it have agreed to further expand their codeshare cooperation starting October 26, 2014, resulting in an increase in the number of JAL codeshare flights available on the US-Brazil routes operated by AA. In addition to JAL's code share flights (operated by AA) to Brazil via New York and Dallas Fort Worth, the airline decided to add new codeshare flights on Los Angeles = San Paulo route into its network between Japan and Brazil, to provide customers with improved convenience and benefits. JAL and AA, being the partners on their joint business of trans-Pacific services, will continue to strengthen their partnership to enhance customers' convenience and embrace the new challenges.
CAE and Japan Airlines Form a Historic Joint Venture to Provide Flight Crew Training Services Across Northeast Asia

CAE announced the signing of a historic joint venture agreement with Japan Airlines to provide flight crew training services across Northeast Asia, excluding China. Once the training services agreement is signed on March 31, 2015, Japan Airlines will conduct all its training at the CAE-JAL Joint Venture starting in April 2015. This JV will also include training services for third-party customers currently training with CAE in Northeast Asia. The equally-owned JV will initially be comprised of JAL's existing training centre located in Tokyo, Japan, as well as CAE's training centre in Northeast Asia. Subject to applicable regulatory approvals, the JV will start operations in April 2015. It will initially offer initial and recurrent training to JAL and third-party customers, with a total of 12 simulators. CAE and Japan Airlines have enjoyed a progressively more comprehensive relationship over the last three decades. JAL purchased its first full-flight simulator from CAE thirty years ago. Last year, CAE and JAL entered an agreement whereby JAL outsourced the responsibility for Ab-Initio pilot cadet training to CAE using CAE's Multi-Crew Pilot License training program.
Japan Airlines Introduces JAL SKY SUITE 777 (SS7) and JAL SKY SUITE 767 (SS6)

Japan Airlines announced that it has been introducing JAL SKY SUITE 777 (SS7) and JAL SKY SUITE 767 (SS6) on select international routes. The airline announced to introduce the Boeing 787-8 with new cabin interior called JAL SKY SUITE 787 (SS8) on the Tokyo (Narita) = Frankfurt route (JL407/JL408) from December 2014, and on the Tokyo (Narita)=New York route (JL004/JL003) from January 2015. Well-received highlights of the Boeing 787-8 include larger windows, higher ceilings, better cabin pressure and humidity for a more comfortable in-flight experience. New cabin service of Premium Economy will be offered on the SS8. Additionally, JAL will introduce fully-flat seat-“JAL SKY SUITE” in Business Class on the SS8. In Economy Class, as the 2 nd installment of “New Spacious Economy” on international routes, JAL SKY WIDER II featuring its world’s top-level space will be adopted for the SS8. JAL keeps its existing configuration at 2-4-2, which achieves approx. 5cm wider for each seat width than the common configuration of Economy Class seat on Boeing 787s. Additionally, the seat pitch was increased approx. 5 cm to provide more space and comfort during every journey. The SS8 configured on upcoming Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 will be scheduled to be introduced mainly on international medium and long haul routes. Warm-water Toto Washlet will be equipped in the lavatories in all Classes. Toto Washlet: An electronic toilet seat featuring a water-jet function for washing, jointly developed by TOTO LTD., JAMCO Corporation and The Boeing Company. One lavatory located at most rear of aircraft is not equipped with warm-water Toto Washlet. New in-flight entertainment system (MAGIC-VI) Instead of the existing MAGIC-V, new in-flight entertainment system-“MAGIC-VI” will be introduced on the SS8. Passengers can use swipe function on personal touch-panel monitor installed with “MAGIC-VI”. The simple design creates beautiful screen interface to provide customers with more comfortable and insight entertainment services. Additionally, the order service for in-flight meals and in-flight sales in Business Class, as well as the popular “SKY MANGA” are also available in all classes on the SS8. LED lighting in cabin.
