These products are distributed through distribution channels comprising insurance agents and brokers affiliated with the company, securities brokerage firms, financial planners, pension plan sponsors, pension plan consultants, and banks. In addition, the company is involved in asset management, property and casualty reinsurance, and run-off reinsurance operations, including variable annuities, and accident and health. Further, it invests in commercial properties, which are leased to third parties. Manulife Financial Corporation was founded in 1887 and is headquartered in Toronto, Canada.

Manulife Receives Approval of its Federal PRPP Product from Canada Revenue Agency and the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions

Manulife Financial Corporation is one of the first companies in Canada to receive approval for its federal Pooled Registered Pension Plan (PRPP) product from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI). Manulife's innovative eApplication allows a plan to be set up in as little as 20 minutes with no paper forms to sign. Plan administration is also easy and worry-free for employers. Manulife tracks and administers plan additions and changes including employees joining or opting out, contribution rate changes and other account activities.

Manulife Financial Corporation Enters into Co-Venture Agreement with Ivanhoe Cambridge

Manulife Financial Corporation entered into a co-venture agreement with Ivanhoe Cambridge, to develop, own and operate the 900 de Maisonneuve West office building development. Following the closing of the proposed acquisition, Manulife will occupy more than half the space in the new building. The AAA building will be built to LEED CS Gold certification standards. Construction will begin in the first quarter of 2015 and should be completed in 2017.

AXA Reportedly In Talks For Sale Of Pension-Fund Unit

AXA Group (ENXTPA:CS) is in advanced discussions with bidders regarding sale of its pension-fund unit in Hong Kong, said people with knowledge of the matter. Axa is seeking about $400 million for the Mandatory Provident Fund business, two of the people said. It has drawn suitors including Manulife Financial Corporation (TSX:MFC), Sun Life Financial Inc. (TSX:SLF), Principal Financial Group Inc. (NYSE:PFG) and FIL Limited, according to the people.
