Electric Power Development Co., Ltd., together with its subsidiaries, engages in the wholesale supply of electric power in Japan. It is also involved in the generation and transmission of electricity. The company owns and operates 7 coal-fired power generation facilities and 1 geothermal power plant with a total capacity of 8,427 MW, and 59 hydroelectric power plants with a total capacity of 8,566 MW; approximately 2,400 kilometers of power transmission lines, and 8 substations and converter stations; 3 independent power producers facilities with a total capacity of 522 MW that supply wholesale power to electric power companies, as well as 3 facilities in the Tokyo Bay area with a total capacity of 322 MW, which supply wholesale power to power producers and suppliers; and 18 wind farms in Japan with a total capacity of 353 MW. It also owns and operates 29 projects in Thailand, the United States, China, Taiwan, and the Philippines with a capacity to 3,672 MW. In addition, the company engages in the development of coal mines in Australia; unloading and transportation of coal to thermal power plants; sale of fly ash; research and planning of environmental conservation; provision of civil engineering, construction management, construction, facility maintenance, and business process outsourcing services; operation of welfare facilities; and development of computer software. Further, it is involved in the import, sale, and transport of coal; construction and maintenance of electronic and communications facilities; engineering services for atmospheric and water pollutant removal equipment; operation of manufacturing facilities of wood pellets; production of fertilizers using ash; operation and maintenance of telecommunications facilities and waste-fueled power generation plants; and marine transportation of ash and fly ash. Electric Power Development Co., Ltd. was founded in 1952 and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.

For the year, on consolidated basis, the company reported net income of JPY 29,808 million or JPY 198.65 net income per share on operating revenues of JPY 656,056 million compared to net income of JPY 16,113 million or JPY 107.39 net income per share on operating revenues of JPY 654,600 million of prior year. Operating and ordinary income were JPY 54,566 million and JPY 44,825 million against JPY 49,800 million and JPY 36,619 million of prior year.
