American Airlines Group Inc. announced traffic results for the month of July 2014. The traffic last month rose 1.1% from July 2013, as passengers flew 20.78 billion miles. Traffic within the U.S. grew by 1.7% but declined 0.6% on international flights. The company increased passenger-carrying capacity by 3.1%, which airlines usually do by adding flights or using bigger planes. Most of the growth came on international routes. Since capacity grew faster than traffic, the average flight was less full by 85.1% last month, down from a positive of 86.8% in July 2013.

American Airlines Group announced operating results for the month and year to date ended July 2014. The company's total revenue passenger miles (RPMs) for the month were 20.8 billion, up 1.1% against July 2013. Total capacity was 24.4 billion available seat miles (ASMs), up 3.1% against July 2013. Total passenger load factor was 85.1% for the month of July, down 1.7 points versus July 2013. System cargo ton miles were 199,407,000 against 182,028,000 a year ago. For the year to date, the company reported total revenue passenger miles of 128,855,351 against 126,382,525 a year ago. Total available seat miles were 155,881,611 against 151,825,442 a year ago. Total load factor was 82.7% against 83.2% a year ago. System cargo ton miles were 1,354,472,000 against 1,240,932,000 a year ago. Based on one month of actual data and two months of forecast, the company expects its third quarter of 2014 consolidated passenger revenue per available seat mile (PRASM) to be up approximately 1.0% to 3.0% versus the same period last year.

American Airlines to Launch New Daily Service Between Miami International Airport and Cap-Haitien, Haiti

American Airlines will launch new daily service between Miami International Airport (MIA) and Cap-Haitien, Haiti (CAP), adding a new international destination to the airline's global network. Customers can now book travel on the new route for travel beginning Oct. 2, 2014, subject to government approval. Daily MIA-CAP Service Schedule (all times local): AA 1632 departs MIA at 9:50 a.m. ET and arrives at CAP at 11:50 a.m. ET. AA 1659 departs CAP at 2 p.m. ET and arrives at MIA at 3:59 p.m. ET. The new route supplements company's service to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and will be operated with a Boeing 737-800. Through company's network from Miami, customers traveling from Cap-Haitien will now have access to more than 100 destinations throughout the United States, Caribbean, Europe and Latin America.
