It operates in the Mortgage Banking, Investment Banking, and Retail Banking segments. The company’s deposit products include savings and current accounts, call accounts, demand deposits, term deposits, certificates of deposit, and investment funds. It also provides deposit and funds management services; personal loans; real estate and mortgage services; children and school account services; and syndicated project development and financing. In addition, the company offers mortgage and house related products and services, such as home refinancing; and national housing fund loan to housing cooperatives and groups. Further, it provides wholesale banking services consisting of mortgage home loans, construction finance, estate development loans, and school development loans. The company operates through operating nine branches. Abbey Building Society Plc was incorporated in 1991 and is headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria.

Bernard Okumagba Joins Abbey Building Society PLC as Non-Executive Director

A former Delta State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Bernard Okumagba, has joined the Board of Abbey Building Society PLC as Non-Executive Director. The appointment is subject to the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria. He worked in several banks from 1991 to 2007. His banking career started at then Oceanic Bank Plc where he was from 1991 to 1994 worked in both the Financial Control/Strategy as well as the Corporate Banking divisions. Thereafter, he worked in Crystal Bank, Fidelity Bank Plc, First Atlantic Bank Plc and United Bank for Africa Plc (UBA) from 1994 to 2007. He held various positions at these banks including Senior Manager, Corporate Banking Division, Head of Internal Control/Audit Division, Chief Inspector and Principal Manager, Consumer and Commercial Banking Division among others. He left UBA in August 2007 following his appointment as the state Commissioner for Economic Planning. He served as the state Commissioner for Economic Planning from August 2007 to November 2010 and was subsequently appointed Commissioner for Finance and served from November 2010 to May 2011. He is also currently Chairman of both Regents Consults Limited and Noly Insurance Brokers Limited.
