The company’s Power Products segment offers switchgears, circuit breakers, capacitors, surge arresters, cable accessories, high voltage components, reclosers, fuses, contactors, relays, sensors, motor control centers, ring main units, and modular systems; and power, traction, distribution, and other special transformers. Its Power Systems segment provides integrated power and automation solutions; alternating current (AC) and direct current transmission systems; flexible AC systems technologies; land and submarine cables, as well as accessories and services for medium-to high-voltage AC and DC systems; air-and gas-insulated substations; and network management solutions. This segment also offers support agreements and retrofits, spare parts, service, and training; and consulting services. The company’s Discrete Automation and Motion segment provides motors, generators, variable speed drives, programmable logic controllers, robots and robotics, solar inverters, wind converters, rectifiers, excitation systems, and related services for discrete automation, process industries, transportation, and utilities. Its Low Voltage Products segment provides protection, control, and measurement for electrical installations; enclosures, switchboards, electronics, and electromechanical devices for industrial machines and plants; products for wiring and cable management, cable protection systems, power connection, and safety; and building control systems for home and building automation. The company’s Process Automation segment develops and sells control and plant optimization systems, automation products and solutions, and industry-specific application services for the oil, gas, petrochemicals, metals and minerals, marine and turbocharging, pulp and paper, chemical and pharmaceuticals, and power industries. ABB Ltd was founded in 1883 and is headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland.

ABB, Ltd. Wins Order from Energinet and 50 Hertz to Upgrade Kontek HVDC Link

ABB Ltd. has won an order worth around $16 million from and 50 Hertz to upgrade the 600MW Kontek high-voltage direct current, or HVDC, transmission link. The project scope includes installation of ABB's MACH control and protection system, remote operator work stations, training and spare parts. The link was originally delivered by ABB in 1995 and the modernization will help enhance the operational reliability of the link and reduce maintenance needs. The upgraded link is scheduled to go into full operation in 2016.

ABB Gets $16 Million Order for Transmission Link Upgrade

ABB announced that the company has received an order worth around USD 16 million (EUR 12.5 million) to upgrade the high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission link between Germany and Denmark. Under the contract awarded by Danish transmission system operator and German grid operator 50Hertz, ABB will install a control and protection system, remote operator work stations and will provide training and spare parts.

ABB Ltd. Opens New Production Facility in Cibitung, West Java, Indonesia

ABB Ltd. has opened a new production facility in Cibitung, West Java, Indonesia, to double ABB's miniature circuit breaker, or MCB, production capacity within the region. The move is in line with the company's PIE growth strategy (market penetration, innovation, expansion). The new facility will employ more than 200 people. The new factory is equipped with assembly automation and product testing equipment.
