African Oxygen Limited, together with its subsidiaries, manufactures and distributes atmospheric gases, welding and safety products, and liquefied petroleum gas in South Africa and other African countries. It operates in four segments: Atmospheric Gases; Liquefied Petroleum Gas; Hard Goods; and Rest of Africa. It offers bulk liquefied gas products, including liquefied nitrogen, oxygen, argon, and CO2; and packaged gases, such as dissolved acetylene, scientific gases, refrigerants, helium, argon, oxygen, nitrogen, welding shielding gases, propellants, and packaged chemicals for use in industrial, mining, commercial, domestic, scientific, and medical applications. The company also provides medical gases for state and private medical facilities, and home-based care; and distributes liquefied petroleum gas under the Handigas brand. In addition, it supplies welding electrodes, MIG wire, and welding equipment for gas and arc welding requirements; and regulators, torches, and safety equipment. African Oxygen Limited serves customers in the mining, manufacturing, heavy industry, healthcare, and hospitality industries. The company was founded in 1927 and is headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa. African Oxygen Limited is a subsidiary of BOC Holdings Limited.
