Agilent Technologies Inc. Introduces Accurate Test Solution for USB 3.1 Receivers

Agilent Technologies Inc. announced the accurate test solution for characterizing USB 3.1 receivers. Using the Agilent USB 3.1 receiver test set, design and test engineers in the semiconductor and computer industry can now accurately characterize and verify USB 3.1 receiver ports in ASICs and chipsets. USB interfaces are commonly used in today's PCs, tablets, mobile phones and external storage devices. The new USB 3.1 specification was released by the USB Implementers Forum in 2013, and the first USB 3.1 10-Gb/s-capable products are expected to reach the market in 2014. The USB 3.1 specification more than doubles possible throughput compared with the USB 3.0 specification. This throughput improvement was achieved by doubling the physical data rate from 5 to 10 Gb/s and by changing the coding scheme from 8-bit/10-bit to 128-bit/132-bit, which requires significantly less overhead. Benefits of the Agilent USB 3.1 receiver test solution include: accurate and repeatable receiver test results enabled by J-BERT's built-in and calibrated jitter sources and intersymbol interference (ISI) traces; precise emulation of pre- and post-cursor de-emphasis; built-in clock recovery to reduce setup complexity; error counting accomplished by real-time filtering of the USB 3.1-specific 128-bit/132-bit coded skip-ordered sets (that can vary in length from the pattern stream); and investment protection enabled by using Agilent instruments that can be repurposed for accurate characterization in multiple gigabit test applications, such as PCIe(R), SATA, DisplayPort and others. The Agilent USB 3.1 receiver test solution consists of either: the enhanced J-BERT N4903B high-performance serial 12.5-Gb/s BERT with its integrated jitter sources and ISI and the N4916B de-emphasis signal generator; or the J-BERT M8020A high-performance 16-Gb/s BERT with integrated and calibrated jitter sources (random jitter, period jitter, SSC), 8-tap de-emphasis and M8048A ISI channels. The price for the J-BERT M8020A high-performance BERT starts at $122,200 for a one-channel, 16-Gb/s high-performance BERT with built-in clock recovery. The upgradeable J-BERT N4903B (the new option for analyzing 128b/132b-coded patterns) is priced at $12,500. The J-BERT requires software version 7.60 or later.

Agilent Technologies Inc. Introduces 100G Ethernet Compliance Test Applications

Agilent Technologies Inc. introduced the compliance test applications for 100 Gigabit Ethernet networking systems. The Agilent N8830A 100GBASE-CR4, N8829A 100GBASE-KR4 and N8828A 40GBASE-CR4/100GBASE-CR10 test applications help network-design engineers accelerate turn-on and debugging of 100G Ethernet networking systems. The new applications automate the execution of physical-layer tests on Agilent Infiniium 90000 X-Series and 90000 Q-Series oscilloscopes and the new Z-Series oscilloscopes with up to 63-GHz bandwidth. 100G Ethernet is the way to wider bandwidths across network backbones and data center networking infrastructure. This technology has increased the need for more comprehensive compliance testing. The company's 100G Ethernet compliance applications provide an automated test script that allows quick and reliable testing of 100G Ethernet transmitter signals. Engineers can automate the application to run over extended periods of time and as well as add incremental user-defined tests. The N8830A 100GBASE-CR4 Ethernet compliance application and N8829A 100GBASE-KR4 Ethernet compliance application are priced at $8,280 each. The N8828A 40GBASE-CR4 /100GBASE-CR10 Ethernet compliance application is priced at $6,900. The N8830A 100GBASE-CR4 and N8829A 100GBASE-KR4 Ethernet compliance applications are compatible with all currently shipping Infiniium real-time oscilloscopes that have 63-GHz bandwidth. The N8828A 40GBASE-CR4/100GBASE-CR10 Ethernet compliance application is compatible with all currently shipping Infiniium real-time oscilloscopes that have at least 25-GHz bandwidth.

Agilent Technologies, Inc. Introduces New 5100 ICP-OES

Agilent Technologies Inc. has introduced the Agilent 5100 Inductively Coupled Plasma - Optical Emission Spectrometer, or ICP-OES. The new system enables customers to run samples faster, using less gas and without compromising performance on even the toughest samples. The new instrument is ideal for labs doing food, environmental and pharmaceuticals testing as well as mining and industrial applications. While conventional dual-view systems require up to four sequential measurements per sample, the Agilent 5100 requires only one, its innovative Dichroic Spectral Combiner and Synchronous Vertical Dual-view technologies. These innovations will enable customers to perform their analyses with greater speed, accuracy and ease, saving them time and money. With the new system, customers will be able take the guesswork out of method development with intuitive ICP Expert software and Dichroic Spectral Combiner technology. They can also capture all wavelengths in one measurement for higher precision without delays. The system's vertical torch will enable them to measure even the challenging samples-from high matrix to volatile organic solvents-with a high degree of confidence. The Agilent 5100 is available in three configurations: Synchronous Vertical Dual View (SVDV); Vertical Dual View (VDV); and Radial View (RV). SVDV delivers the fast analyses and the lowest gas usage. VDV offers high throughput and is upgradable on-site to the SVDV configuration if higher throughput is needed. RV is ideal for labs needing a fast, high-performance radial ICP-OES.
