Aspen Insurance Holdings Limited, through its subsidiaries, operates in insurance and reinsurance businesses worldwide. The company’s Insurance segment offers property insurance lines comprising the United States (U.S.) and the United Kingdom commercial property and construction business; and casualty insurance line consisting of commercial liability, excess casualty, the U.S. casualty insurance, and environmental liability. It also provides marine, energy and construction liability, energy physical damage, marine hull, specie, inland marine and ocean risks, and aviation insurance products. In addition, this segment offers financial and professional line insurance products that cover financial and corporate risks, professional liability, management risks, credit and political risks, accident and specialty risks, and surety risks, as well as underwrites property and casualty insurance risks for the various U.S. based program managers. Its Reinsurance segment offers property catastrophe reinsurance; other property reinsurance, including risk excess of loss and proportional treaty reinsurance, and facultative or single risk reinsurance; and casualty reinsurance, including the U.S. treaty, international treaty reinsurance, and casualty facultative reinsurance. This segment also provides specialty reinsurance consisting of credit and surety, agriculture reinsurance, and other specialty lines. The company provides its products primarily through brokers and reinsurance intermediaries. Aspen Insurance Holdings Limited was founded in 2002 and is based in Hamilton, Bermuda.

Aspen Insurance Holdings Limited Appoints Peter Slot as Global Head of Accident and Health

Aspen Insurance, the insurance segment of Aspen Insurance Holdings Limited, has appointed Peter Slot as global head of accident and health. Reporting to Bernie de Haldevang, Head of FINPRO International and Bruce Eisler, Executive vice president, US Financial Products - Professional Lines, this is a new role within Aspen Insurance's Financial and Professional Lines team. Peter will join Aspen Insurance in the Spring of 2015 from Beazley where he was, until recently, Head of Accident and Health (A&H) in the US with responsibility for both insurance and reinsurance as well as having substantial involvement in the London-based business. Peter will be responsible for developing Aspen Insurance's global offering in the A&H sector, leveraging its existing capabilities in this market. He will also work closely with Aspen Re, Aspen's reinsurance business, to identify and develop opportunities within the A&H reinsurance segment worldwide.

Aspen Insurance Holdings Ltd. Announces Unaudited Consolidated Earnings Results for the Third Quarter and Nine Months Ended September 30, 2014; Provides Operating Return on Equity Guidance for 2014, 2015 and 2016

Aspen Insurance Holdings Ltd. announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2014. For the quarter, the company reported net written premiums were $577.3 million against $542.0 million a year ago. Net earned premiums were $610.4 million against $544.3 million a year ago. Net investment income was $48.0 million against $45.0 million a year ago. Operating income before tax was $85.4 million against $83.6 million a year ago. Income before tax was $38.7 million against $110.3 million a year ago. Net income after tax was $37.4 million against $107.4 million a year ago. Diluted net income per share adjusted for preference share dividend was $0.42 against $1.43 a year ago. Diluted operating income per share adjusted for preference dividend was $1.08 against $1.05 a year ago. Annualized net income return on average equity of 4.0% and annualized operating return on average equity of 10.0% compared with 14.8% and 10.8%, respectively, for the third quarter of 2013. For the nine months, the company reported net written premiums were $1,961.2 million against $1,751.7 million a year ago. Net earned premiums were $1,793.1 million against $1,599.2 million a year ago. Net investment income was $143.6 million against $139.2 million a year ago. Operating income before tax was $308.7 million against $230.4 million a year ago. Income before tax was $299.9 million against $249.1 million a year ago. Net income after tax was $288.6 million against $239.3 million a year ago. Diluted net income per share adjusted for preference share dividend was $3.91 against $2.95 a year ago. Diluted operating income per share adjusted for preference dividend was $4.04 against $2.78 a year ago. Book value per ordinary share was $45.60 against $41.33 a year ago. Diluted book value per ordinary share (treasury stock method) was $44.60 against $40.43 a year ago. Annualized net income return on average equity of 12.0% and annualized operating return on average equity of 12.4% compared with 10.1% and 9.2%, respectively, for the first nine months of 2013. The company now expects to achieve an operating return on equity comfortably in excess of 10% in 2014, assuming normal loss experience. The company expects to achieve an operating return on equity of 11% in 2015, and to achieve an operating return on equity of between 11% and 12% in 2016.
