Acadia Realty Trust announced the company's dividend for the quarter ending June 30, 2013. Acadia's board of trustees has declared a cash dividend of $0.21 per common share payable on July 15, 2013 to holders of record as of June 28, 2013.
A group of construction unions, community groups, and elected officials, including two Brooklyn politicians, City Councilwoman Letitia James and Assemblyman Walter Mosley, filed an Article 78 lawsuit against the Bloomberg administration and developer Acadia Realty Trust calling for the City Point real estate project to be shut down and to commission a new environmental impact statement for the construction site. The suit alleges that the wage rate allowed in the City Point lease would force construction workers to earn substandard wages, and that the original environmental impact statement for the project assumed that Acadia Realty would be paying a prevailing wage, as the EIS legally must assess the socioeconomic impact of such projects. A letter was sent by the petitioners' lawyers to Deputy Mayor for Economic Development Robert Steel complaining about the low wages and non-union construction workers employed by the project. When no response was received, the lawsuit was filed. Mosley added that the lawsuit was partially prompted by a lack of movement at the negotiating table between the construction unions and Acadia in regard to the wage issue. Mosley said that the lawsuit does not preclude further discussion between the two parties.
