ANA Holdings Inc., together with its subsidiaries, provides passenger and cargo transportation services in Japan and internationally. The company offers in-flight food purchasing, aircraft ground handling, and express shipping services, as well as airport customer services for other airlines; outsources reservation and information services, aircraft ground handling, and facility managements; and leases offices and warehouses. It is also engaged in the sale of airlines tickets; development of computer reservation system terminal; purchasing of software and aircraft-related products; and outsourcing of information systems maintenance and administration services. The company provides passenger services through 1,068 flights on 132 routes daily in Japan and 828 flights weekly on 48 routes internationally, as well as 11 freighter flights on 7 routes daily in Japan and 162 freighter flights on 18 routes weekly internationally. As of March 31, 2013, it operated 230 aircraft. The company was formerly known as All Nippon Airways Co., Ltd. and changed its name to ANA Holdings Inc. in April 2013. The company was founded in 1952 and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.

Vietnam Airlines May Sell Stake To All Nippon Airways

As reported, Vietnam Airlines Company Limited may sell stake to ANA Holdings Inc. (TSE:9202). Vietnam Airlines was in talks with several possible partners, but it has reportedly chosen ANA Holdings (All Nippon Airways) as a possible strategic partner. A spokesman for All Nippon Airways declined to comment on the reports.

All Nippon Airways and Lufthansa Cargo AG Announce Joint Venture

All Nippon Airways and Lufthansa Cargo AG will launch a strategic air cargo joint venture on routes between Japan and Europe and vice versa. This is the first worldwide cargo joint venture of its kind. ANA has received antitrust immunity, approval for the joint venture from the Japanese Ministry of Land Infrastructure and Transport after filing for it in spring 2014. In addition, the joint venture has been positively assessed by external counsel for compliance with relevant EU antitrust regulations. Now ANA and Lufthansa Cargo can jointly manage activities covered by the joint venture including network planning, pricing, sales and handling on all routes between Japan and Europe and vice versa. Based on a joint contract which shall be signed in the next weeks, the two carriers aim to introduce the joint approach on shipments originating from Japan to Europe in winter 2014-2015 and for shipments from Europe to Japan mid 2015. The joint venture will benefit customers by generating a greater selection of routings and a wider range of service options. Customers will especially profit from a larger and faster network with more direct flights, more destinations and more frequencies. By their moving under one roof at major stations, such as the airports Narita and Nagoya in Japan and Dusseldorf and Frankfurt in Germany, customers will enjoy the services of both airlines at a single location. On the passenger side Lufthansa and ANA build on a longstanding relationship as both companies are part of the Star Alliance network, the leading global airline network. Additionally, Lufthansa and ANA also launched a joint venture in 2012 on routes between Japan and Europe, allowing the two carriers to bring substantial benefits to passengers by creating a more efficient and comprehensive service across their networks. Complementary, with this new cargo joint venture, ANA Group and Lufthansa Group will bring their customers even more new values on air transportation services.

Schenker AG Claims Damages from Air France, KLM, Martinair, Cargolux, Qantas, SAS and All Nippon Airways

Schenker AG has filed a complaint in New York federal court claiming damages from Air France, KLM, Martinair, Cargolux, Qantas, SAS and All Nippon Airways. Schenker AG alleges that the defendants illegally conspired to fix fuel and security surcharges for airfreight shipments from, to and within the United States beginning in 1999 until at least 2006. The exact amount of the damages suffered by Schenker AG and its affiliated companies has not yet been determined. In the proceedings initiated by the US Department of Justice, all the defendants named in the Schenker AG complaint entered into guilty pleas and accepted significant penalties. Also in the United States, a number of air cargo carriers have entered into settlement agreements both with class action plaintiffs and individual claimants in order to avoid protracted civil lawsuits. Schenker AG opted out of the settlement agreements entered into by the named defendants in connection with the class action lawsuit.
