AMEC Appoints Julian Walker as Director of Communications

AMEC announced the appointment of Julian Walker as Director of Communications. Reporting to Chief Executive, Samir Brikho, and based in London, Julian will take responsibility for all the company's external and internal communications, including media, employee, investor, marketing and brand, along with government relations. Julian originally joined AMEC in May 2014 as Interim Director of Communications from Travelport Limited, where he was Global Vice President - Head of Corporate Communications and Investor Relations.

PGE EJ1 Selects AMEC plc to Develop Nuclear Power Plant in Poland

PGE EJ1 selected AMEC plc as a preferred bidder to support the development of Poland's nuclear power plant over the next 10 years. The contract, which will be formally confirmed in the next few weeks, will be worth GBP39 million to AMEC for the required scope of work initially, rising to around GBP 255 million if all optional work is undertaken over the 10 years. Two locations, Choczewo and Zarnowiec, both close to the Baltic coast, have been shortlisted. The Polish government wants the first plant, capable of producing approximately 3,000 megawatts of electricity, to be operational by 2024.

AMEC Receives Feed Contract from Premier Oil for Sea Lion Development

AMEC has received a 12-month front end engineering design, or FEED, contract from Premier Oil for the Sea Lion development in the North Falklands Basin. The value of the contract has not been announced. Sea Lion is the first oil and gas development in the Falklands area and includes plans for a tension leg platform (TLP) with over 30,000 tonnes of topsides for the 450-metres deep offshore location. AMEC's scope of work includes engineering and procurement services for the TLP along with interface management and preparation of cost estimates and tender documents. AMEC will be responsible for the design of the TLP, with the potential to provide continued support to Premier through the detailed design and fabrication phases of the project. The FEED covers a fully integrated scope for the hull, production topsides and drilling facilities and will deliver a solution focused on constructability and operability. AMEC will carry out the project from its London design office, supported by subcontractors KCA Deutag in London and Houston Offshore Engineering in Houston.
