Asset Sale Of PKP Attracts International Buyers

The planned sale of the telecom and energy subsidiaries of PKP Cargo Spólka Akcyjna (WSE:PKP) is attracting international buyers, although their enthusiasm is curbed by evident risks. PKP responds that it is reorganizing the assets it wants to sell, such as Telekomunikacja Kolejowa Spólka z o.o. and PKP Energetyka Sp. z o.o. PKP seems on its way to full recovery, as evidenced by the initial interest of bidders, including Exatel SA and Netia S.A. (WSE:NET), which filed preliminary offers by the end of October 2014, as well as equity funds. Even Polkomtel Sp. z o.o. and America Movil S.A.B. de C.V. (BMV:AMX L) are rumoured to be eyeing the telecom assets of PKP. The PLN 700 million worth PKP Energetyka has apparently raised the interest of infrastructure equity funds, such as Marguerite, Macquarie Group Limited (ASX:MQG), EISER Infrastructure Partners LLP, CEE Equity, Infracapital and Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. L.P. (NYSE:KKR), as well as energy giants PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna S.A. (WSE:PGE), Tauron Polska Energia Spolka Akcyjna (WSE:TPE), ENERGA Spólka Akcyjna (WSE:ENG) and Enea AB (OM:ENEA). PKP plans to complete sale of the two firms in 2015, and use the funds for repayment of debts.

Small Telecom Italia Investors Reportedly Call For Brazil Unit Merger

Small shareholders at Telecom Italia S.p.A. (BIT:TIT) called on the Board to consider a potential merger between TIM Participacoes S.A. (BOVESPA:TIMP3) and Oi SA (BOVESPA:OIBR4). Sources with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters that Oi SA, America Movil S.A.B. de C.V. (BMV:AMX L) and Telefónica, S.A. (CATS:TEF) agreed to place a joint bid worth around BRL 32 billion ($12.8 billion) for TIM Participacoes.

Telecom Italia Denies Any Talks To Sell Tim Brasil

Telecom Italia S.p.A. (BIT:TIT) has denied the rumors of receiving offer to sell Tim Brasil Serviços e Participações S.A. According to the reports, America Movil S.A.B. de C.V. (BMV:AMX L), Telefónica, S.A. (CATS:TEF) and Oi SA (BOVESPA:OIBR4) have agreed to launch a $13 billion bid for Telecom Italia's controlling stake in TIM Brasil. Marco Patuano, Chief Executive Officer, said the company had not received any offer for TIM Brasil. "We have a major investment programme in place and have just participated in the auction for 4G services," he said. Giuseppe Recchi, Chairman, also said that no takeover offers had been received for TIM Brasil. Telefonica Brasil, S.A. (BOVESPA:VIVT4) also confirmed in a statement issued to the Brazilian securities regulator that it was not involved in any talks related to a joint bid for TIM Brasil, while Oi said it had engaged BTG Pactual to act as its agent to come up with a bid for TIM Brasil but that no understanding or agreement had yet been reached.
