In addition, the company serves developers and enterprises through Amazon Web Services, which provides access to technology infrastructure that enables virtually various businesses. Further, it offers Kindle Direct Publishing, an online platform that allows independent authors and publishers to make their books available in the Kindle Store; and manufactures and sells electronic devices, as well as provides co-branded credit card agreements and advertising services. Additionally, the company offers Amazon Prime, an annual membership program, which provides free shipping of items; access to streaming of movies and TV episodes; and access to books to borrow and read on a Kindle device. Amazon.com, Inc. was founded in 1994 and is headquartered in Seattle, Washington.

Amazon.com Reportedly In Final Talks To Acquire Xerion

Amazon.com Inc. (NasdaqGS:AMZN) is in the final stage of negotiations to acquire Xerion Retail Private Limited, reported Bloomberg. Bloomberg said that both Praveen Sinha, co-founder of Xerion, and a representatives from Amazon's India business refused to comment on a possible merger.

Amazon Reportedly Eyeing Jabong

Amazon.com Inc. (NasdaqGS:AMZN) is planning to acquire Rocket Internet AG (XTRA:RKET) backed Xerion Retail Private Limited (Jabong.com). VCCircle reported quoting two sources as saying that the company has completed its first level of talks to acquire Jabong.com in a deal worth $1.1 billion - $1.2 billion. According to a source, the meeting took place recently and it has not even been a week. According to the news report, is not immediately clear how the deal would be structured. The deal would require intense regulatory scrutiny. A source seeking anonymity stated, “The way the market is placed, fashion is the biggest category. However, it would not be possible for a general merchandiser to crack this industry without targeting inorganic growth.” Another source said that Amazon would keep Jabong as a separate property post the acquisition. He added, “It (deal) would be very much on the lines of Amazon's acquisition of Zappos in the US.” The report further added that when contacted, Jabong’s Co-founder, Praveen Sinha declined to comment while Amazon's India team, did no response reply to the mail.

Amazon.com Announces Lease on 470,000 Square Feet in an Office Building in New York

Amazon.com agreed to a 17-year lease on 470,000 square feet in an office building across the street from the Empire State Building in New York. Amazon will consolidate its New York office operations into the 12-story building.
