Air Products & Chemicals Inc. will introduce two new technologies for metals processors at PowderMet 2013 in Chicago, Ill., from June 24-27, 2013. Conference attendees can stop by Air Products' #310 to learn about the company's new process for accelerated cooling for sinter-hardening of low-alloy steels, which not only can lower material cost, but can also increase hourly production. The company's application specialists will also be available to discuss a new cold plasma technology that can eliminate intergranular oxidation when carburizing and hardening atmospheres. In addition, Air Products' Lisa Mercando, marketing manager for metals processing, will present lab and field test results from the company's "Evaluation of Accelerated Forced-convection Cooling Methods for Sinter-hardening of Low-alloy Steels." This technical presentation will be given on June 26, at 8:00 a.m. as part of Session 17, Sinterhardening: Material & Process Development. Air Products will also highlight at PowderMet the company's range of technical services, such as process audits and troubleshooting; innovative equipment and technology solutions, such as the company's Atmosphere Humidification System for extended belt life and plasma-activated nitriding of stainless steels; and full line of industrial gases, which Air Products provides in a variety of delivery options for small to large volume users.
Air Products announced it has expanded the capabilities of three packaged gases plants to primarily serve the increasing needs of the country's high-growth metal fabrication industries. The $10 million expansion was recently completed when three new gas transfills were brought onstream. The three plants, located in Kunshan, Guangzhou and Tianjin, China, are now capable of supplying Air Products' differentiated Linx(R) gas regulators and range of shielding gases and other industrial gases. These products support welding, cutting and other processes for metal fabrication in the country's three most developed economic zones, Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta and Bohai Gulf, where traditional industries are experiencing accelerated transformation.
Air Products & Chemicals Inc. launched a new microsite that features the company's advanced cryogenic technologies, which use the unique properties of liquid nitrogen to provide an economical, simple way of cooling for a variety of applications. The new website is designed to help the chemical, pharmaceutical, and life science industries identify solutions to various low-temperature process challenges. Air Products' liquid nitrogen solutions microsite (www.airproducts.com/n2solutions) provides information about the company's cryogenic cooling technologies, including: PolarFit(TM) reaction cooling for fast, precise, flexible, low-cost cooling of advanced synthesis reactions; PolarFit(TM) grinding and milling for high-quality, ultra-fine particles with uniform distribution and high yields; PolarFit(TM) process cooling, which offers customized cooling solutions that increase productivity and quality; Cryo-Condap(R) solvent recovery, which enables economic recovery and abatement of volatile organic compounds; Cryogenic cooling for lyophilization, which provides improved performance and reliability with lower capital investment; and Cryopreservation solutions, which provide a reliable, low-temperature environment to preserve and store biological samples. These advanced technologies, combined with the company's more than 40 years of cryogenic applications experience, enable Air Products to help chemical, pharmaceutical, and life science companies identify the most efficient process cooling solution to fit their specific application, with benefits ranging from increased productivity to reduced environmental impact.
