Appliance Recycling Centers of America Inc. announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 28, 2014. For the quarter, the company reported total revenues of $33,211,000 against $32,273,000 a year ago. Operating income was $1,208,000 against $1,200,000 a year ago. Income before income taxes and non controlling interest was $1,046,000 against $871,000 a year ago. Net income attributable to controlling interest was $592,000 or $0.10 per diluted share against $768,000 or $0.13 per diluted share a year ago. The decline in quarter-over-quarter net earnings was primarily the result of income taxes. EBITDA of $1.6 million grew by 4% compared with the second quarter last year. The decline in net earnings is a result of an increase in income tax expense. For the six months, the company reported total revenues of $66,703,000 against $62,697,000 a year ago. Operating income was $3,278,000 against $1,625,000 a year ago. Income before income taxes and non controlling interest was $2,844,000 against $1,000,000 a year ago. Net income attributable to controlling interest was $1,563,000 or $0.27 per diluted share against $952,000 or $0.17 per diluted share a year ago.
