Areva S.A. provides technical solutions with less carbon for power generation worldwide. It operates through five segments: Mining, Front End, Reactors & Services, Back End, and Renewable Energies. The company is engaged in the exploration, extraction, and processing of uranium ore; and the reclamation of sites. It also holds a portfolio of mines in operation in Canada, Kazakhstan, and Niger, as well as projects under development in Africa. In addition, the company is involved in the conversion and enrichment of uranium, as well as in the design and production of fuel for nuclear reactors. Further, it designs and constructs nuclear reactor systems, including pressurized water reactor and boiling water reactors, as well as reactors for naval propulsion and research; and offers products and services for the maintenance, modernization, and control of nuclear reactors. Additionally, the company provides end-of-cycle management solutions for used fuel, which include recycling, logistics, clean-up, and site rehabilitation; and is engaged in developing CO2 free energy production solutions based on wind energy, bio energy, solar power, and hydrogen power, as well as energy storage. It has a strategic partnership agreement with Schneider Electric to develop energy storage and energy management solutions based on hydrogen production and fuel cells. Areva S.A. is headquartered in Courbevoie, France.

AREVA Completes Installation of Two Spent Fuel Pool Level Instrumentation Systems at Santa Maria de GaroNa Nuclear Power Plant in Spain

AREVA has completed the installation of two Spent Fuel Pool Level Instrumentation (SFPLI) systems at the Santa Maria de GaroNa nuclear power plant in Spain. These systems allow operators to ensure that the required level of water is maintained in the used fuel pools, even in adverse conditions. The installation of AREVA's SFPLI systems meets the post-Fukushima requirements of the Spanish nuclear safety authority, Consejo de Seguridad Nuclear. The company has already supplied more than 37 of these systems to 13 nuclear utilities worldwide. Developed using VEGA's Through-Air Radar technology, the SFPLI system is part of its Safety Alliance program which offers nuclear operators the most advanced products and services to ensure the safety of their plants.

Alstom, Bombardier and Areva to Supply Twelve Train Sets for Paris Public Transport Operator

Alstom announced that it is part of a consortium that would supply the Ile-de-France Transport Authority STIF and Paris public transport operator RATP with 12 train sets under a project worth around EUR 75 million. The other members of the consortium are Bombardier and Areva. The order covers design studies, development and manufacturing of train sets that should be delivered by 2016. Alstom has overall responsibility for the project. It will provide various components and sub-assemblies and is also responsible for their integration, together with the equipment supplied by the other members of the consortium.
