ARM announced that LG Electronics has licensed the next generation of ARM(R) Cortex(R)-A50 series of central processing unit (CPU) solutions and the next generation of ARM Mali(TM) graphics processing units (GPUs). This agreement means that LG Electronics will have access to ARM's CPU and GPU solutions to create market-leading technology. This agreement will enable LG Electronics to offer a wider range of high-performance SoCs. Launched in October, the Cortex-A50 family bridges the performance requirements of next-generation 32-bit and 64-bit applications. The next generation of the Mali GPUs licensed by LG Electronics will extend the performance capabilities beyond that offered by the Mali-T678 GPU, taking graphics and GPU computing to new levels.

ARM Holdings plc announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2013. For the period, the company reported revenues of £170.3 million against £132.5 million a year ago. Profit from operations was £64.9 million against £48.4 million a year ago. Profit before tax was £67.1 million against £51.3 million a year ago. Profit for the period was £51.9 million against £37.4 million a year ago. Diluted earnings per share were 3.7 pence against 2.7 pence a year ago. On non-GAAP basis, the company reported profit from operations of £86.0 million against £59.0 million a year ago. Profit before tax was £89.4 against £61.9 million a year ago. Diluted earnings per share were 5.31 pence against 3.36 pence a year ago. Net cash generation was £58.7 million against £58.3 million a year ago. The company expects group revenues for the second quarter of 2013, to be in line with current market expectations of $254 million. The company expects group revenues for 2013 to be at least in line with current market expectations. The company is forecasting tax rate of 20% for the balance of the year.

Arteris, Inc. and ARM Holdings plc have signed a multi-year agreement that expands Arteris' access to ARM processor core IP. The two companies have broadened their cooperation to aid the development of future Arteris coherent interconnect IP products that more closely integrate with Arteris' pioneering FlexNoC(R) network-on-chip technology and ARM's processor IP.
