It distributes and sells water to residential, commercial, industrial, municipal, and utility customers in the states of Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. The company also offers water for public and private fire protection to customers in its service territories. In addition, it provides contract water and wastewater services, water and sewer service line protection plans, and wastewater management services, as well as design, construction, and engineering services. As of December 31, 2013, the company served approximately 79,700 metered water customers through 1,182 miles of transmission and distribution mains. Artesian Resources Corporation was founded in 1905 and is headquartered in Newark, Delaware.

Artesian Resources Corp. Reports Unaudited Consolidated Earnings Results for the Third Quarter and Nine Months Ended September 30, 2014

Artesian Resources Corp. reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2014. Net income for the third quarter of 2014 was $3.3 million, an increase of $0.7 million, or 27.5%, compared to $2.6 million in net income recorded during the third quarter of 2013. Diluted net income per share increased to $0.37 compared to $0.29 for the third quarter of 2013. Revenues for the third quarter of 2014 were $19.6 million, a $1.5 million, or 8.4%, increase from the $18.1 million in revenues recorded for the same three month period of 2013. Water sales revenue increased $1.3 million, or 8.2%, to $17.7 million for the third quarter of 2014, compared to $16.3 million for the same period in 2013. The increase in water sales revenue is attributed to an overall increase in water consumption and increased water rates. Operating income was $5.33 million compared to $4.324 million for the same period of last year. Income before interest charges was $5.45 million compared to $4.39 million for the same period of last year. Through the first nine months of 2014, the company reported net income of $7.4 million, a $0.6 million, or 9.0%, increase from the $6.8 million in the same period of 2013. Diluted net income per common share was $0.83 through the first nine months of 2014 compared to $0.77 during the same period last year. Revenues during the first nine months of 2014 increased 4.2% to $54.4 million compared to $52.2 million in 2013. Water sales revenue increased $1.7 million, or 3.6%, to $48.7 million through the first nine months of 2014, compared to $47.0 million for the same period in 2013, as a result of increased water consumption during the summer of 2014 and an increase in water rates. Operating income was $12.13 million compared to $11.21 million for the same period of last year. Income before interest charges was $12.98 million compared to $12.047 million for the same period of last year.

Artesian Resources Corporation announced that its Board of Directors has approved a 1.5% increase in the company's Class A and Class B Common Stock dividend, raising the annual dividend to $0.8604 per share. The quarterly dividend of $0.2151 is payable November 21, 2014 to shareholders of record at the close of business on November 7, 2014.
