AT&T Inc. provides telecommunications services to consumers and businesses in the United States and internationally. Its Wireless segment offers various wireless voice, data, text, and other services, including local wireless communications services, long-distance services, and roaming services. This segment also sells various handsets, wirelessly enabled computers, and personal computer wireless data cards through its owned stores, agents, or third-party retail stores; and accessories comprising carrying cases, hands-free devices, batteries, battery chargers, and other items to consumers, as well as to agents and third-party distributors. As of December 31, 2013, this segment served approximately 110 million wireless subscribers. The company’s Wireline segment provides data services, such as switched and dedicated transport, DSL Internet access, network integration, managed Web-hosting, packet, and enterprise networking services, as well as local, interstate, and international wholesale networking capacity to other service providers. This segment also offers voice services consisting of local and long-distance services; wholesale switched access services to other service providers; and outsourcing services, integration services and customer premises equipment, and government-related services. This segment served approximately 12 million retail consumer access lines, 10 million retail business access lines, and 2 million wholesale access lines. The company has strategic relationship with IBM to provide businesses with a source for network security and threat management. The company was formerly known as SBC Communications Inc. and changed its name to AT&T Inc. in November 2005. AT&T, Inc. was founded in 1983 and is based in Dallas, Texas.

AT&T and Amazon Announce Availability of Fire Smartphone

AT&T and Amazon announced the arrival of Fire, Amazon's first smartphone. Available exclusively on the most reliable 4G LTE network, Fire is the only smartphone with new breakthrough technologies Dynamic Perspective, Firefly (access to Amazon's vast digital ecosystem of over 33 million songs, apps, games, movies, TV shows, books, audiobooks and magazines) and features such as Mayday, Second Screen and X Ray. The customer can also take advantage of myAT&T online or via the device app to buy online, pick up in store, or schedule an appointment in AT&T retail stores. The AT&T Next(sm) program lets customer purchase Fire with zero money down, no upgrade fee, no activation fee and no annual contract. Fire with 32GB is available for $27.09 a month with AT&T Next 18 or $199 with a two-year contract. The 64GB version is $31.25 a month with AT&T Next 18 or $299 with a two-year contract.

AT&T GigaPower to Launch in Dallas, Fort Worth

AT&T will begin lighting up Dallas, Fort Worth, and surrounding cities with U-verse with AT&T GigaPower. The AT&T GigaPower network will provide services offered over an all-fiber network featuring symmetrical upload and download broadband speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second, the fastest broadband speeds available in and around the metroplex. In the Dallas area, the initial AT&T GigaPower network deployment will launch in Highland Park and University Park with speed capability of up to 1 Gbps. Other parts of Dallas and surrounding cities will launch this summer at up to 100 Mbps, and customers will be eligible to upgrade to speeds of up to 1 Gbps by the end of 2014. Surrounding cities launching at up to 100 Mbps will include Allen, Fairview, Irving, and McKinney. In Fort Worth, initial deployment will launch at up to 100 Mbps, and customers will be eligible to upgrade to speeds of up to 1 Gbps by the end of 2014. Additional cities around Fort Worth where up to 100 Mbps will also launch this summer include Arlington, Euless, Granbury, North Richland Hills, Weatherford, and Willow Park. U-verse Customers on the AT&T GigaPower network will have access to cutting-edge TV services that offer the ability to watch and record five simultaneous HD streams, with largest storage capacity DVR with a one terabyte hard drive.

AT&T, Inc. has turned on the nation's most reliable 4G LTE network in Escanaba, bringing customers the latest generation of wireless network technology. Those who live and work east of M-35, near U.S. Route 2 and County Road 426, will most notice the improvements to the network. Several of the benefits AT&T 4G LTE are: Faster speeds. LTE technology is capable of delivering speeds faster than many other mobile Internet technologies. Customers can stream, download, upload and game faster than ever before. Cool new devices. AT&T offers several LTE-compatible devices, including new AT&T 4G LTE smartphones and tablets. Faster response time. LTE technology offers lower latency than other wireless technologies, which means faster processing time to move data through a network, such as initiating a webpage or file download. Lower latency helps to improve services like mobile gaming, two-way video calling and telemedicine. More efficient use of spectrum. Wireless spectrum is a finite resource, and LTE uses spectrum more efficiently than other technologies, creating more space to carry data traffic and services and to deliver a better network experience.
