The privatization of S7 Airlines OJSC (RTS:AVSI) has now been postponed. Open Joint Stock Company Alfa-Bank reported that the tender for Russian government's 25.5% stake in S7 Airlines has been postponed to May 30, 2013. Applications of preliminary interest will be taken till May 23, 2013 and qualification documents will be accepted till May 27, 2013. The results of the qualifying round will be announced on May 28, 2013.
Sibir Airlines reported earnings results for the year 2012. The company posted a net profit of RUB 546.378 million in 2012 under Russian accounting standards, 25.6% less than in 2011. Revenue increased 23.4% to RUB 55.863 billion. Gross profit declined 19.5% to RUB 5.879 billion and business expenses rose 46.2% to 2.667 billion rubles. The profit on sales dropped 67% to RUB 1.146 billion. Pretax profit declined 7.9% to RUB 675.9 million.
Filyov family may acquire an additional 25.5% stake in S7 Airlines OJSC from the government, Vedomosti business daily reported on March 27, 2013, citing sources. S7 Airlines is 70% owned by S7 Group, in which the Filyov family holds 25.5%.The Filyov family plans to finance the acquisition via Alfa Bank, a source close to the bank said. Alfa Bank was picked by the government to organize the privatization. It will accept applications from potential buyers of Siberia Airlines until April 18, 2013. The auction is scheduled for April 25, 2013 with the starting price set at RUB 1.122 billion. Joint Stock Company Aeroflot - Russian Airlines and Russian Technologies Corporation both showed interest in S7 Airlines but companies, whose capital is more than 20% state-run, are not allowed to participate in the auction. The government has been looking for an investor eager to acquire the stake for over 10 years and the Filyov family agreed only because the price was cut, the paper said, citing a source close to S7 Group. British Airways Plc and several investment funds, the source said. According to Prime News, British Airways declined to comment.
