Berry Plastics Group, Inc., through its subsidiaries, manufactures and distributes plastic consumer packaging and engineered materials in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Belgium, Australia, Germany, Brazil, Malaysia, the Netherlands, and India. The company operates in four segments: Rigid Open Top, Rigid Closed Top, Engineered Materials, and Flexible Packaging. It provides rigid packaging products, including containers; foodservice products, such as thermoformed polypropylene and injection-molded plastic drink cups; closures and overcaps; polyethylene, polyethylene terephthalate, and decorated bottles; prescription containers; and plastic squeeze tubes. The company also offers engineered materials comprising heat-shrinkable coatings, single and multi layer sleeves, pipeline coating tapes, anode systems for cathodic protection, visco-elastic, and epoxy coatings; cloth and foil, splicing and laminating, flame-retardant, vinyl-coated and carton sealing, electrical, double-faced cloth, masking, mounting, OEM, and medical and specialty tapes under the Nashua and Polyken brands; adhesives; drop cloths and retail trash bags under the Ruffies and Film-Gard brands; PVC films; institutional can liners under the Big City, Hospi-Tuff, Plas-Tuff, Rhino-X, and Steel-Flex brands; and hand and machine-wrap stretch films under the MaxTech and PalleTech brand names. In addition, it products flexible packaging products consisting of mono layer and coextruded films, and barrier films; lamination films for carpet padding, as well as films for solar panel construction; personal care films; printed products under the SteamQuick, Freshview, and Billboard brands; and coated and laminated packaging products under the MarvelGuard and MarvelSeal brands. The company sells its products to specialty businesses through its direct field sales force and distributors. Berry Plastics Group, Inc. was founded in 1967 and is headquartered in Evansville, Indiana.

Berry Plastics Group, Inc. reported un-audited consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended March 29, 2014. For the quarter, the company’s net sales by 5% to $1,210 million compared to $1,150 million in the March 2013 quarter. Recorded net income attributable to the company of $12 million or $0.10 per basic and diluted share compared to $1 million or $0.01 per basic and diluted share, operating EBITDA of $191 million compared to $200 million, EBIT of $75 million compared to $64 million, adjusted EBITDA of $197 million and adjusted free cash flow of $11 million compared to $11 million for the last year. Operating income was $77 million compared to $111 million and income before income taxes was $18 million compared to $3 million for the last year. For the six months, the company reported operating income of $140 million compared to $179 million, income before income taxes of $27 million compared to loss before income taxes of $12 million, net sales of $2,350 million compared to $179 million, net income attributable to the company of $18 million or $0.15 per basic and diluted share compared to net loss attributable to the company of $9 million or $0.08 per basic and diluted share, net cash from operating activities of $250 million compared to $165 million and additions to property, plant and equipment of $114 million compared to $107 million for the last year. Net debt as at March 29, 2014 was $3,817 million compared to $3,804 million as at March 29, 2013. The company is reconfirming initial plan of $270 million of adjusted free cash flow for the year 2014.

Berry Plastics Group, Inc. announced the appointment of Idalene F. (Idie) Kesner and Jonathan (Jon) F. Foster to its Board of Directors. Kesner will serve on the company's Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee, and Foster will serve on its Compensation Committee. Kesner and Foster replace Anthony Civale and Donald Graham who are stepping down from the company's Board. Kesner has served as dean for Indiana University's Kelley School of Business, since July 2013. Foster is Founder and a Managing Director of Current Capital LLC. Prior to this role, Foster served as a Managing Director and Co-Head of Diversified Industrials and Services at Wachovia Securities. Foster is a board member of Masonite International Corporation, Lear Corporation and Chemtura Corporation as well as a Trustee of the New York Power Authority. He was previously a member of the board of directors of Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation. Donald Graham and Anthony Civale have served as members of Berry Plastics' Board of Directors since 2006.
