BASF SE operates as a chemical company worldwide. The company operates in five segments: Chemicals, Performance Products, Functional Materials and Solutions, Agricultural Solutions, and Oil and Gas. The Chemicals segment offers solvents, plasticizers, monomers, glues, and electronic chemicals, as well as raw materials for detergents, plastics, textile fibers, paints and coatings, plant protection, and pharmaceuticals. The Performance Products segment provides dispersions and pigments, care chemicals, nutrition and health, paper chemicals, and performance chemicals used in the pharmaceuticals, hygiene, home, and personal care items, as well as for enhancing the processes in the paper, oil and gas production, mining, and water treatment industries. The Functional Materials and Solutions segment offers catalysts, battery materials, engineering plastics, polyurethane systems, automotive and industrial coatings, and concrete admixtures, as well as construction systems, such as tile adhesives and decorative paints for the automotive, electrical, chemical, and construction industries, as well as for household applications, and sports and leisure. The Oil and Gas segment explores for and produces oil and gas primarily in Europe, Russia, North Africa, and South America. BASF SE Announces Executive Changes

BASF SE announced that Christopher Toomey, Senior Vice President of Regional Procurement for BASF in North America, will assume responsibility for the BASF Coatings business in North America, effective November 1, 2014. Toomey succeeds Juan Carlos Ordonez, Senior Vice President, who will move to lead the BASF Performance Materials division in Wyandotte, Mich. Before joining BASF in 2011, Toomey worked for Cognis, where he was Vice President and General Manager of Functional Products and Vice President of Human Resources and Communications.

BASF Announces Executive Changes, Effective November 1, 2014

BASF has announced the appointment of Gerry Podesta as the Senior Vice President for the Dispersions & Pigments business in North America effective November 1. Podesta succeeds Derek Fairclough, who will lead BASF's Environmental, Health, Safety & Security organization also effective November 1. Most recently, Podesta served as the Senior Vice President for BASF's Performance Materials business in North America since July 1, 2009. He served in a prior role as Group Vice President for the Performance Chemicals business of BASF between 2003 and 2009.

BASF Opens New Plant in Dahej, in Gujarat

BASF opened a new chemical production plant in India on October 7, 2014. The plant is located in Dahej in the state of Gujarat. The company has invested INR 10 billion (USD 162.2 billion) in the project. The Dahej plant currently employs 500 people and BASF plans to add 50 new jobs at the facility. The new site includes an integrated hub for polyurethane manufacturing and production facilities for care chemicals and polymer dispersions. The polyurethane manufacturing facility houses a methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) splitter for processing crude MDI, a core component in the manufacture of versatile polyurethane products. The site will also produce thermoplastic polyurethane, microcellular polyurethane components, and polyurethane systems. The integrated hub will cater to demand from various industries, including the automotive sector.
