basf se (BFFAF) Key Developments

Carlyle To Reportedly Sell PQ Corporation

The Carlyle Group LP (NasdaqGS:CG) has decided to sell PQ Corporation's industrial catalysts business separately from its performance chemicals and specialty glass materials, Reuters reported citing people familiar with the matter. The catalysts business has attracted interest from BASF SE (DB:BAS), Umicore S.A. (ENXTBR:UMI), Johnson Matthey plc (LSE:JMAT) and Sealed Air Corporation (NYSE:SEE) while CCMP Capital Advisors, LLC has expressed interest for performance chemicals and specialty glass materials businesses. The Carlyle Group LP, BASF SE and Umicore S.A. declined to comment. PQ Corporation, Sealed Air Corporation and Johnson Matthey plc did not respond to requests for comment.

BASF Announces New Termite Product, Trelona Compressed Termite Bait

BASF announced a new termite product, Trelona Compressed Termite Bait. The BASF Pest Control Solutions business announced that Trelona(TM) ATBS (Advance® Termite Bait System) is now available for use to control termites. Trelona ATBS delivers certainty and flexibility to pest management professionals (PMPs) who want control, predictability and price assurance as part of a successful termite baiting system. Trelona Compressed Termite Bait, with the new active ingredient Novaluron, provides faster termite elimination and uses less bait than previous active ingredients. Trelona ATBS offers flexibility in selling either the Trelona ATBS Monitoring System or the Trelona ATBS Direct Baiting System to homeowners. In addition, PMPs that are already using ATBS and have existing accounts that haven't had termite activity for a year can begin using Trelona ATBS and benefit from a six-month inspection interval. Trelona ATBS gives PMPs the opportunity to have greater control of their business and ability to grow and increase their profits. Unlike other bait systems currently in the market, the Trelona ATBS model allows PMPs to control, own and manage their baiting program without requirements to share their customer information. Another significant benefit to PMPs is that Trelona Compressed Termite Bait is sold as an agency product through BASF distribution partners, which ensures consistent pricing. This takes the upfront guesswork out of bait costs, allowing PMPs to better understand the cost per home from the start of each project.
