Burger King Worldwide, Inc. reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2013. For the quarter, the company reported total revenue of $327.7 million, income from operations of $102.4 million, income before income taxes of $53.3 million and net income of $35.8 million against total revenue of $569.9 million, income from operations of $84.1 million, income before income taxes of $21.5 million and net income of $14.3 million for the same period a year ago. Net income per basic and diluted share was $0.10 against $0.04 a year ago. EBITDA was $119.0 million against $118.1 million for the same period a year ago. Adjusted EBITDA was $144.3 million against $143.2 million for the same period a year ago. Adjusted income before income taxes was $84.3 million against $57.4 million for the same period a year ago. Adjusted net income was $60.1 million against $39.8 million for the same period a year ago. Adjusted net income per basic and diluted share was $0.17 against $0.11 a year ago. Net debt at March 31, 2013 was $2,447.8 million against $2,502.6 million as of December 31, 2012. Net cash provided by operating activities was $78.9 million against $53.1 million a year ago. Payments for property and equipment was $7.3 million against $16.6 million a year ago.

Guilherme Ruschel is to lead UK marketing at Burger King after being appointed as director of marketing, North-West Europe. Ruschel joins Burger King from Unilever, where he was sales director for its Food Solutions business unit. He has previously held marketing roles at Nestle Brazil. Ruschel's appointment follows the exit of Burger King UK's marketing director, Jo Blundell, after two years with the fast-food chain.
