bongrain sa (BH) Key Developments

Bongrain SA Reports Earnings Results for the Half Year Ended June 30, 2014

Bongrain SA reported earnings results for the half year ended June 30, 2014. For the period, the company reported net sales of EUR 2,232.2 million compared to EUR 1,960.3 million a year ago. Current operating profit was EUR 57.3 million compared to EUR 82.7 million a year ago. Operating profit was EUR 56.9 million compared to EUR 60.9 million a year ago. Group share of net income was EUR 20.8 million compared to EUR 403.6 million a year ago. Net debt was EUR 653.1 compared to EUR 403.6 a year ago. Current operating profit was negatively affected by the increased price for milk, not fully reflected in selling prices, and by the takeover of Terra Lacta's operations, but benefited from both the resilience of cheese products business and increased value for other dairy products. The increase in net debt reflected the additional working capital requirements for larger scope of consolidation, together with the price and volume factors on the dairy market throughout the first half of the year, and capital expenditure for the period.

Bongrain Reports Revenue Results for the First Quarter of 2014

Bongrain announced that its revenue rose 8% on the year to EUR 1.1 billion (USD 1.5 billion) in the first quarter of the year. In organic terms the revenue rose 7.7%. Cheese sales inched down 0.6% in annual terms to EUR 638.6 million, but other dairy products sales jumped 22% to EUR 492.3 million.

Bongrain SA Reports Audited Earnings Results for the Year Ended December 31, 2013

Bongrain SA reported audited earnings results for the year ended December 31, 2013. For the period, the company reported net sales of EUR 4,407.5 compared to EUR 4,084.1 a year ago. Current operating profit was EUR 153.7 compared to EUR 149.4 a year ago. Operating profit was EUR 133.5 compared to EUR 132.0 a year ago. Group share of net income was EUR 48.9 compared to EUR 329.3 a year ago. The increase in net sales has been driven by the development of the Group's specialty brands, the extension of its portfolio of dairy ingredients and acquisitions. The diversity of businesses and geographical presence have enabled to grow the current operating profit despite the unfavorable impacts of the strong increase in milk prices, often morose macroeconomic environments and the dilutive impact in the short term of business acquisitions. Operating profit reflects rationalization costs as well as impairment allowances reflecting the situation in certain Central and East European countries. The decrease of the group's share of net income is notably attributable to an increased tax charge. Net debt was EUR 490.9 compared to EUR 329.3 a year ago.
