Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited operates as an engineering and manufacturing company worldwide. The company operates through Power and Industry segments. It provides power generation equipment, such as air preheaters, boilers, control relay panels, electrostatic precipitators, fabric filters, fans, gas turbines, hydro power plant, piping systems, pulverizes, pumps, seamless steel tubes, soot blowers, steam generators, steam turbines, turbo generators, and valves. The company also offers industrial systems and products comprising capacitors, ceralin, compressors, desalination plants, diesel generating sets, industrial motors and alternators, gas turbines, oil field equipment, solar photovoltaics, power semiconductor devices, steel castings and forgings; and transmission products, such as power transformers/reactors, instrument transformers, switchgears control and protection equipment, thyristor equipment, insulators, and bushing products. In addition, it provides products for transportation sector that include electric rolling stocks, electrics for rolling stocks, and electrics for urban transportation systems; and non-conventional energy source products consisting of mini/micro hydro sets, solar lanterns, solar photovoltaics, solar water heating systems, and wind electric generators. Further, the company offers fuel cells, surface coatings, automated storage and retrivals, load sensors, and transparent conducting oxide products for research and development purpose. Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited was founded in 1964 and is based in New Delhi, India.

Bharat Heavy Electricals to Set Up Two Power Plants in Russia

Bharat Heavy Electricals is foraying into international arena with two thermal power plants. The plants are to be built at a cost INR 30 billion in Russia. A formal agreement is expected to be inked in the presence of the Russian President Vladmir Putin, who will be visiting India next month for the annual summit-level meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, when he will address a joint session of Parliament for the first time. Officials of energy ministries of both the countries have been in talks for striking a deal on setting up the power projects. On the agenda of the talks between external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj and the deputy prime minister of Russia Dmitry Rogozin, at the 20th India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission Meeting in New Delhi, is the issue of BHEL entering Russia for the thermal power plants.

NTPC, L&T And BHEL Reportedly To Pick Up Stake In OTPCL’s Project

NTPC Ltd. (BSE:532555) has reportedly evinced interest to develop the 2,400 Mw coal-based power station proposed at Kamakhyanagar in Dhenkanal district through the joint venture (JV) route. The 2,400 Mw coal fired plant is being developed by Odisha Thermal Power Corporation Ltd, an equal JV between Odisha Hydro Power Corporation Ltd. and Odisha Mining Corporation. To accommodate NTPC in the JV, either one or both the partners have to offload some stake. Besides NTPC, Larsen & Toubro Limited (BSE:500510) and Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BSE:500103) were also inclined to pick up stake in OTPCL’s project.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. reported unaudited standalone earnings results for the second quarter ended six months ended September 30, 2014. For the quarter, sales /income from operations was INR 63,193.1 million compared to INR 93,155.6 million a year ago. Profit from operations before other income finance cost and exceptional items was INR 253.3 million compared to INR 1,732.5 million a year ago. Profit from ordinary activities before tax was INR 2,088.3 million against INR 6,464.9 million a year ago. Net profit was INR 1,248.4 million or INR 0.51 per basic and diluted share before and after extraordinary items compared to net profit of INR 4,559.5 million or INR 1.86 per basic and diluted share before and after extraordinary items a year ago. For the six months, net sales /income from operations was INR 115,965.2 million compared to INR 159,867.6 million a year ago. Loss from operations before other income finance cost and exceptional items was INR 292.9 million compared to profit from operations before other income finance cost and exceptional items of INR 3,310.3 million a year ago. Profit from ordinary activities before tax was INR 4,547.3 million against INR 13,149.9 million a year ago. Net profit was INR 3,183.4 million or INR 1.30 per basic and diluted share before and after extraordinary items compared to net profit of INR 9,213.8 million or INR 3.76 per basic and diluted share before and after extraordinary items a year ago.
