Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited operates as an engineering and manufacturing enterprise in the energy and infrastructure related sector in India and internationally. The company offers air preheaters, boilers, control relay panels, electrostatic precipitators, fabric filters, fans, gas turbines, hydro power plant, piping systems, pulverizes, pumps, seamless steel tubes, soot blowers, steam generators, steam turbines, turbo generators, and valves for thermal, nuclear, gas, and hydro-based utility and captive power plants. It also provides industrial systems and products, including captive power plants, centrifugal compressors, drive turbines, industrial boilers and auxiliaries, waste heat recovery boilers, gas turbines, pumps, heat exchangers, electric machines, valves, heavy castings, forgings, electrostatic precipitators, ID/FD fans, and seamless steel tubes for metallurgical, mining, cement, paper, fertilizers, refineries, and petrochemical industries. In addition, the company offers products for transportation sector that include traction propulsion system and controls, track maintenance machines, transportation system, and coach building for Indian railways, as well as undertakes retrofitting and overhauling of rolling stock. Further, it provides renewable energy based products, such as rural water pumping systems, railway signaling, offshore drilling platforms, hydro sets, solar lanterns, solar photovoltaics, solar water heating systems, and wind electric generators; and transmission products comprising power transformers, instrument and dry type transformers, shunt reactors, vacuum and SF6 switchgear, gas insulated switchgears, ceramic insulators, circuit breakers, control and protection equipment, thyristor valves, bushings, capacitors, control relay panels, energy meters, HVDC transmission system, power semiconductor devices, power system studies, and control shunt reactor. The company was incorporated in 1964 and is based in New Delhi, India.

For the year, the company reported net profit after tax of INR 64,850 million or INR 26.50 earnings per share on turnover of INR 5,00,150 million compared to net profit after tax of INR 70,400 million or INR 28.76 earnings per share on turnover of INR 4,95,100 million of prior year. Profit before tax was INR 92,310 million against INR 103,020 million of prior year.
