BHP Billiton Limited, together with its subsidiaries, operates as a diversified natural resources company worldwide. The company explores for, develops, produces, and markets petroleum with operating assets located in the deep water Gulf of Mexico, onshore U.S., and Australia, as well as the United Kingdom, Trinidad and Tobago, and Pakistan; and holds potash exploration rights to approximately 14,500 square kilometers of prospective ground in the Saskatchewan potash basin in Canada. It also produces and supplies primary aluminium, alumina, nickel, and manganese ore and alloys; and produces and exports seaborne metallurgical coal and thermal coal. In addition, the company explores for and produces copper, silver, lead, uranium, zinc, and iron ore. It serves smelters; wire rod mills, brass mills, and casting plants; electricity generating utilities; stainless steel, specialty alloy, foundry, chemicals, and refractory material industries; steel producers; and power stations, power generators, and industrial users. The company was formerly known as BHP Limited and changed its name to BHP Billiton Limited in July 2001. The company was founded in 1860 and is headquartered in Melbourne, Australia. BHP Billiton Limited operates as a subsidiary of BHP Billiton Group.

BHP Billiton In Talks With Jinchuan Group And Glencore For Sale Of Nickel West

BHP Billiton Limited (ASX:BHP) is in advanced talks with Jinchuan Group Co., Ltd. and Glencore Plc (LSE:GLEN) for the sale of BHP Billiton Nickel West Pty Ltd. BHP has also been considering splitting the sale of Nickel West, or selling part of it and closing the rest, but it wants a clean exit. BHP and Glencore declined to comment, and Jinchuan could not be reached.

BHP Billiton Limited reported unaudited consolidated earnings and production results for the year ended June 30, 2014. For the year, the company reported revenue of $64,227 million against $63,067 million a year ago. Profit from operations was $23,412 million against $21,002 million a year ago. Profit before taxation was $22,236 million against $19,726 million a year ago. Profit attributable to members of the company was $13,832 million or 259.1 cents per diluted share against $11,223 million or 210.2 cents per diluted share a year ago. Net operating cash flow was $25,364 million against $20,154 million a year ago. Purchases of property, plant and equipment was $15,993 million against $22,243 million a year ago. Exploration expenditure was $1,010 million against $1,351 million a year ago. Purchase of intangibles was $192 million against $400 million a year ago. Underlying EBITDA was $32,359 million against $30,308 million a year ago. Underlying EBIT was $22,861 million against $22,930 million a year ago. Purchases of property, plant and equipment was $15,993 million against $22,243 million a year ago. Free cash flow has grown by $8.1 billion. The company expects adjusted effective tax rate to remain between 30% and 34% in 2015. CapEx is expected to be below $15 billion investment ceiling in 2015 at about $14.8 billion.
