BHP Billiton Plc, together with its subsidiaries, operates as a resources company that discovers, acquires, develops, and markets natural resources worldwide. The company engages in the exploration, development, and production of oil and gas; development of potash; mining of metallurgical coal, thermal coal, copper, silver, lead, zinc, molybdenum, uranium, gold, and iron ore; mining, refining of bauxite into alumina, and smelting of alumina into aluminum metal; and mining and production of nickel products, as well as manganese metal and alloys. It is also involved in the exploration, development, and production of hydrocarbons; and nickel mining smelting and refining, as well as provision of administrative services. BHP Billiton Plc sells its copper, uranium oxide, and lead and zinc concentrates to smelters; copper cathodes to wire rod and brass mills, and casting plants; uranium oxide to electricity generating utilities; nickel products to specialty alloy, foundry, chemical, and refractory material industries; metallurgical coal to steel producers; and energy coal to power stations, power generators, and industrial users. The company, formerly known as Billiton Plc, was incorporated in 1996 and is based in London, the United Kingdom. BHP Billiton Plc is a subsidiary of BHP Billiton Group.

BHP Billiton plc Reports Production Results for the First Quarter Ended September 30, 2014

BHP Billiton plc reported production results for the first quarter ended September 30, 2014. For the quarter, the company reported total petroleum production of 67.4 MMboe against 62.7 MMboe a year ago. Total Copper production was 389.4 kt against 403.3 kt a year ago. Total Lead production was 49,574 t against 46,445 t a year ago. Total Zinc production was 40,663 t against 28,555 t a year ago. Total Gold production was 52,344 oz against 40,188 oz a year ago. Total Silver production was 9,068 koz against 8,688 koz a year ago. Total Uranium production was 866 t against 970 t a year ago. Total Molybdenum production was 40 t against 458 t a year ago.

BHP Billiton plc Announces Senior Executive Changes

BHP Billiton plc announced a series of changes to the senior management of the company. Graham Kerr, currently Chief Financial Officer of BHP Billiton is appointed Chief Executive Officer designate of the new company that BHP Billiton plans to form in a demerger. Graham will retire from the Group Management Committee on 1 October 2014 and will be replaced as CFO by Peter Beaven, currently President, Copper. Peter joined BHP Billiton in 2003 and has held various positions in the company including President Manganese and Vice President Business Development and Chief Development Officer for the Carbon Steel Materials business. He joined BHP Billiton following a previous career with UBS where he headed the Australian advisory team for resources.
