The company was formerly known as Blockbuster Inc. and changed its name to BB Liquidating Inc. in August 2011. BB Liquidating Inc. was founded in 1982 and is based in Dallas, Texas. On September 23, 2010, BB Liquidating Inc. filed a voluntary petition for reorganization under Chapter 11 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

GA Europe Investments 100 Limited (GA Europe) is reportedly interested in BB Liquidating Inc. (Blockbuster) as Blockbuster’s administrators, Deloitte is preparing to close the first tranche of stores. GA Europe is reportedly to have been interested in Blockbuster for some time and has connections to the business and is understood to believe they can successfully run a rump Blockbuster business in the UK. Dish Network Corp. is also reported to be in discussions about buying back parts of the business. Savills has been appointed by Deloitte to advice on the Blockbuster portfolio.
BB Liquidating Inc. opened the new worldwide headquarters, which is bringing more than 150 jobs to Colorado. The headquarters is on the DISH campus at the Meridian International Office Park in Douglas County, Colo. The company plans to bring 150 positions over the next five years to the Denver area.
Blockbuster Video is set to shut its doors September 2, 2012. The company announced to close Middletown store, look for new location.
