Bankia To Divest 90% Holdings In Other Companies Before 2014 End

Bankia, S.A. (CATS:BKIA) has a mandate to divest its 24.9% stake in Realia Business, S.A. (CATS:RLIA) while it is only a matter of time before it divest its 2.9% of Mapfre SA (CATS:MAP) and 19% stake of Metrovacesa, S.A., El Economista reported on July 4, 2014 citing Chief Executive Officer of José Sevilla Álvarez. He stated that Bankia may be able to divest at least 90% of its holdings in other companies before the end of 2014. The European Commission has ordered Bankia to divest its stakes in other companies as part of its restructuring plan.

Bankia Announces Management Changes

The Board of Directors of Bankia, at the proposal of the appointments and remuneration committee approved the appointment of Jose Sevilla as the bank's new Chief Executive Officer. Jose Sevilla has served since 16 May 2012 as General Director of the Office of the Chairman of Bankia and on 25 May of that same year was appointed Executive Director of the bank. The Board of Directors also decided to appoint Antonio Ortega, currently General Director of People, Organisation and Technology of the Bank, as Executive Director of the bank. Changes were also approved on the Board of Directors committees. Eva Castillo, Independent Director, has now joined the Board Risk Committee. Furthermore, the Board of Directors approved the appointments as Deputy General Director of Fernando Sobrini, Head of Retail Banking, and Gonzalo Alcubilla, Head of Business Banking. Both are joining the Management Committee, which will now have seven members instead of five. The Management Committee is composed of Bankia's Executive Chairman Jose Ignacio Goirigolzarri; Chief Executive Officer Jose Sevilla; Executive Director and General Director of People, Organisation and Technology, Antonio Ortega; Secretary to the Board of Directors, Miguel Crespo; Deputy General Director of Communication and External Relations, Amalia Blanco; and the Deputy General Directors of Retail Banking and Business Banking.
