The Boeing Company, together with its subsidiaries, designs, develops, manufactures, sells, services, and supports commercial jetliners, military aircraft, satellites, missile defense, human space flight, and launch systems and services worldwide. The company operates in five segments: Commercial Airplanes, Boeing Military Aircraft, Network & Space Systems, Global Services & Support, and Boeing Capital. The Commercial Airplanes segment develops, produces, and markets commercial jet aircraft for various passenger and cargo requirements, as well as provides related support services to the commercial airline industry. This segment also provides aviation services support, aircraft modifications, spares, training, maintenance documents, and technical advice to commercial and government customers. The Boeing Military Aircraft segment is involved in the research, development, production, and modification of manned and unmanned military aircraft and weapons systems for the global strike and vertical lift, mobility, surveillance, and engagement. The Network & Space Systems segment is engaged in the research, development, production, and modification of electronics and information solutions; strategic missile and defense systems; space and intelligence systems; and space exploration products. The Global Services and Support segment offers a range of products and services comprising integrated logistics, including supply chain management and engineering support; maintenance, modification, and upgrades for aircraft; and training systems and government services, such as pilot and maintenance training. The Boeing Capital segment facilitates, arranges, structures, and provides financing solutions, such as equipment under operating leases, finance leases, notes and other receivables, assets held for sale or re-lease, and investments for its commercial airplanes customers. The Boeing Company was founded in 1916 and is based in Chicago, Illinois.

Boeing Receives $250 Million Contract to Modernize NATO AWACS fleet

Boeing received a contract from NATO, worth approximately $250 million, to install digital flight decks and avionics on 13 of the alliance's Airborne Warning and Control System, or AWACS, aircraft, which are based on the Boeing 707 commercial airplane. The new technology ensures compliance with current and future air traffic control and navigation requirements, giving the aircraft broader access to airspace around the world. "Increasing airspace access means greater mission efficiency by saving time and fuel during operations.

Boeing and the Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. Announces Contract with U.S. Army

Boeing and the Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. have been awarded a contract with the U.S. Army to build a helicopter for the Army's Joint Multi-Role Technology Demonstrator Phase 1 program. The Boeing-Sikorsky team will build a version of the SB>1 Defiant, a medium-lift helicopter. It's unclear if the helicopters will ever enter actual production. If some version of either prototype is ever actually built, the contract that could be worth an estimated $100 billion. The technology developed through the program will allow for the next generation of vertical lift aircraft. First flight for the program is expected in 2017. Sheridan said the production of the program wouldn't be until the 2030s.

Boeing to Showcase Feature Advances in Missile Defense and Directed Energy at Space & Missile Defense Symposium

Boeing will showcase integrated air and missile defense solutions during the Space and Missile Defense Symposium at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Aug. 11-14. The capabilities offer military customers and nation solutions to address the most complex air and missile defense system needs with innovation and affordability. Boeing will exhibit scale models and demonstrations of the Avenger, Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD), High Energy Laser Mobile Demonstrator (HEL MD), Arrow weapon systems, and patriot advanced capability-3 (PAC -3) Missile Seeker. Program executives and subject matter experts will be on hand to provide information on a variety of kinetic and directed energy applications and products. Boeing will also feature Phantom Eye, a High Altitude Long Endurance unmanned airborne system and a wide spectrum of solutions to address the evolving needs of the space and missile defense community.
