Brocade Announces New Hardware and Software for Brocade MLXe Routers

Brocade announced new hardware modules and software for the Brocade(R) MLX(R) Series routers with the industry's most comprehensive capabilities to address the bandwidth, scale, and performance needed for the networks of current; providing a seamless path to open, software-driven programmable networks that the industry refers to as the 'New IP'. To address these needs, Brocade has delivered software enhancements to the Brocade MLXe carrier-class routing platform, including support for OpenFlow 1.3 with significant features to help organizations deploy new application- and user-specific services in a secure manner. Delivered in unique Brocade MLXe programmable hardware, the Brocade OpenFlow 1.3 implementation provides fine-grained control for highly customized services at scale. The Brocade MLXe is the first carrier-class platform to support interworking between traditional routed networks and new software-defined networks, via Brocade Hybrid Port Mode. The new hardware modules provide the right mix of high port density, wire-speed scale-out single-chassis performance, and scale for simultaneous support of both IPv4 and IPv6, which is designed to help prevent Internet outages from route table explosion. Built with the Brocade VersaScale(TM) processor, this sixth-generation programmable silicon is a Brocade innovation that delivers the flexibility and features of software with the performance and scale of hardware. Designed for the most demanding service provider and data center networks, these elements address immediate business needs while providing flexibility and investment protection for the future. With these additions, Brocade enables the most open and scalable networks possible, with the agility needed to meet the growing user expectations in the market now. As a result, this solution facilitates a smooth transition between legacy networks and networks designed for the New IP, which are driven by an increased demand in social technology, mobile devices, and the cloud.

Brocade Introduces the Brocade Vyatta Controller

Brocade introduced the Brocade(R) Vyatta(R) Controller as a keystone product in its Software-Defined Networking (SDN) portfolio and the next step toward delivering on the customer benefits of its open networking platform strategy. Commercially supported by Brocade, this SDN controller is built continuously from the OpenDaylight Project, a community-led open source initiative aimed at accelerating the adoption of SDN and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) in order to provide levels of agility and efficiency not possible in traditional IP networking. The increasing adoption of cloud, mobile and social technologies by consumers and businesses has brought user-centrism to the strategic front for both IT organizations and service providers. Along with required changes in how network services are deployed, such as NFV, this trend has also added significant management and operational complexity for network engineers and architects to solve. These challenges also include adding significant new capabilities for network control and programmability. Addressing the issues collectively, the industry is starting to describe this as the migration toward the New IP. By introducing open source into the SDN equation, customers are free to innovate on their own, or they can partner with the vibrant OpenDaylight community to develop new capabilities that modern networks require. The advantages were, bandwidth calendaring, context-aware policy enforcement, prioritization of unified communication traffic, security for Issues Such as DDoS Attacks, advanced Network Programmability and Control for Heterogeneous NFV environments.
