China Government Reportedly To Acquire Handset Solution Business Of Broadcom

The China government is likely to acquire handset solution business of Broadcom Corp. (NasdaqGS:BRCM), according to industry sources.

Broadcom Corporation Introduces New Family of Combo Chips

Broadcom Corporation introduced BCM43430, a new family of combo chips for next-generation wearables. With compact sizing, low-power consumption and support for A4WP Rezence wireless charging, Broadcom's new combo chips are optimized for the next wave of wearables. The BCM43430 chip family offers competitive power, footprint and cost advantages for companies developing various wearable devices. The key features of BCM43430 include: single-band combo chip that supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1/Bluetooth Smart, Rezence wireless charging and FM radio receiver; flexible design to support low-cost printed circuit board (PCB) configurations for smartphones, tablets and wearables; integration of power amplifier (PA) and low-noise amplifier (LNA) and transmit-receive (T/R) switch for reduced BOM; TurboQAM, low-density parity-check (LDPC) and beamforming for improved throughput, range and robustness; low-power consumption mode to extend battery life in wearables; and support for Android and Windows operating systems.

AirHop Communications, Inc., Broadcom Corp. and RadiSys Corporation Deliver Integrated SON-Ready LTE Small Cell Solution

Radisys(r) Corporation and AirHop Communications, announced the integration of AirHop's eSON(tm) software with Radisys' Trillium(r) LTE TOTALeNodeB(tm) solution and Broadcom Corporation's BCM617xx Series small cell silicon. This integrated Self-Organizing Network (SON) solution for LTE and LTE-Advanced small cell networks allows mobile operators to quickly deploy interference management functionality across a broad customer base. Trial deployments of the integrated SON solution are underway with leading mobile operators. Mobile operators are deploying LTE small cells to add capacity to their networks and increase coverage and performance to meet mobile subscribers' bandwidth needs and demand for anywhere, anytime cell service. This integration of small cells into multi-vendor, multi-technology and multi-mode Heterogeneous Networks (HetNets) is driving demand for advanced SON capabilities and features. SON enables the effective coordination of time and frequency resources, provides dynamic interference management and reduces costs of initial small cell roll-outs. The integrated pre-verified and pre-optimized SON solution provides mobile operators with a time-to-market advantage. By integrating AirHop's eSON within its TOTALeNodeB solution, optimized on Broadcom silicon, Radisys delivers a distributed SON solution that enables: Reduced OPEX via automatic discovery, self-configuration and other OSS level SON functions. Support for distributed, real-time inter-cell coordination. Real-time coordination among multiple cells coupled with interference management and load balancing algorithms. Improved system capacity via intelligent radio resource allocation. Improved user experiences, Access to user equipment measurements defined by existing air-interface.Radisys Corporation and AirHop Communications, announced the integration of AirHop's eSON software with Radisys' Trillium LTE TOTALeNodeB solution and Broadcom Corporation's BCM617xx Series small cell silicon.
