It operates through Hotel Investments, Property Sales, and Fee-Based segments. The company provides resort, spa, project, and golf management services; design, planning, consultancy, purchasing, and project services for hotels, resorts, and spas; and operation and management services for property, spas, and food and beverage, as well as consulting services for hotel design and tourism information. It also offers spas architect and design, resort management, hotel design, and spa management and other associated services; project supervision and management, and materials procurement services; and investment management and related consulting services. In addition, it provides travel agency, business management and consultancy, tourism management consultancy, marketing, and hotel management consultancy; architectural and design; and project development services. Further, the company is involved in the operation of holiday resorts, hotel resorts, and golf clubs; sale of merchandise; provision of holiday club membership; rental of retail of outlets and offices; property investment and development activities; tourist transportation and travel operations; development and sale of residences; and trade and retail of consumer goods in resorts. Additionally, it manages an asset-backed destination club and private equity funds; and offers management, operation, and ancillary services related to the hospitality industry. As of December 31, 2013, the company had 35 hotels, 72 spas, 85 gallery outlets, and 3 golf courses. Banyan Tree Holdings Limited was founded in 1984 and is based in Singapore.

Banyan Tree Holdings Limited reported unaudited group earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2014. For the quarter, the company reported revenue of RMB 1,094,113,000 against RMB 1,603,651,000 a year ago. Loss from operating activities was RMB 4,501,000 against results from operating activities of RMB 149,552,000 a year ago. Loss before income tax was RMB 50,189,000 against RMB 109,631,000 a year ago. Loss for the period attributable to owners of the company was RMB 53,216,000 or 10.0 cents per share against profit for the period attributable to owners of the company of RMB 85,538,000 or 16.2 cents per share a year ago. Cash flows from operating activities were RMB 516,128,000 against RMB 56,962,000 a year ago. Purchase of property, plant and equipment was RMB 337,743,000 against RMB 119,134,000 a year ago. Purchase of intangible assets was RMB 82,000. Revenue was mainly due to decrease in revenue from acrylic acid and acrylate esters, PMIDA and glyphosate by RMB 563.8 million and RMB 63.4 million respectively. For the quarter, the company reported revenue of SGD 68.9 million against SGD 81.7 million for the same period in the last year. Profit before interests, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) was SGD 4.2 million against SGD 13.1 million for the same period in the last year, decreased due to revenue and low season period. Loss per share was 0.45 cents against earnings per share of 0.22 cents for the same period in the last year. For the six months, the company reported revenue of SGD 162.8 million against SGD 178.6 million for the same period in the last year. Profit before interests, taxes, depreciation and amortization was SGD 23.4 million against SGD 46.3 million for the same period in the last year. Earnings per share were 0.07 cents against 2.09 cents for the same period in the last year. Net asset value per share as at June 30, 2014 was SGD 0.70 against SGD 0.72, as at December 31, 2013. The company expects to open 4 resorts within 12 months.
