Its solutions enable organizations to aggregate multiple servers, storage infrastructure, and networks together into shared pools of capacity that can be allocated to applications as needed. It offers VMware vSphere, a software-defined data center platform, which enables users to deploy hypervisor, a layer of software that resides between the operating system and system hardware to enable compute virtualization; and vCloud Suite, an integrated solution for building and managing a cloud infrastructure optimized for use with the VMware vSphere platform. The company also provides vSphere-based hybrid cloud computing solutions; and end-user computing solutions, which are designed to enable a user-centric approach to personal computing, and secure access to applications and data from various devices and locations. VMware, Inc. sells its products through distributors, resellers, system vendors, and systems integrators. It has strategic relationship with Verizon Enterprise Solutions and Arista Networks, Inc. VMware Announces General Availability of New Solutions for Building, Managing and Protecting Software-Defined Data Centers

VMware, Inc. announced the general availability of VMware NSX(TM) 6.1, VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager(TM) 5.8, VMware vCloud(R) Suite(R) 5.8, VMware vRealize(TM) Operations Insight(TM), VMware vRealize(TM) Suite 6, and VMware vSphere(R) Data Protection(TM) Advanced 5.8 to help organizations build, manage and protect their software-defined data center environments. Additionally, VMware is announcing the availability of VMware vSphere(R) Remote Office Branch(TM) Office. Featuring the industry's most complete product portfolio for implementing and operating a software-defined data center, VMware has advanced the capabilities of: VMware NSX 6.1 helps improve the security, scalability and performance of the software-defined data center and hybrid cloud. The new release includes several additions such as further advancement of network micro-segmentation capabilities, scale-out NSX Edge(TM) (equal cost multi-path routing), enhancements to VMware vCloud(R) Automation Center(TM) 6.1 integration, and improved hybrid cloud connectivity. With VMware NSX, customers can enable use cases for self-service IT and also have an economically and operationally feasible way to deploy network micro-segmentation to transform data center security architecture.

EMC Reportedly Plans To Sell VMware

EMC Corporation (NYSE:EMC) is planning to sell its stake in VMware, Inc. (NYSE:VMW), according to a well-placed source familiar with the situation. Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HPQ) is a possible VMware buyer, one source said. But no category competitor will likely be interested in it, the source added. An EMC spokesman declined to comment.

Capgemini and VMware Join Forces over Enterprise Mobility

Capgemini has linked up with VMware to deliver an enterprise mobility management service. VMware will underpin the service with its AirWatch mobile device management platform, while Capgemini will provide its mobility consulting, app development and integration products. AirWatch will provide workers with a central console from which they can access all content and applications on any device. The bundled services will be offered on monthly subscriptions or multi-year contracts. The co-operation between Capgemini and VMware is an extension of their existing global agreement to work together in the enterprise cloud space.
