Its solutions enable organizations to aggregate multiple servers, storage infrastructure, and networks together into shared pools of capacity that can be allocated to applications as needed. It offers VMware vSphere, a software-defined data center platform, which enables users to deploy hypervisor, a layer of software that resides between the operating system and system hardware to enable compute virtualization; and vCloud Suite, an integrated solution for building and managing a cloud infrastructure optimized for use with the VMware vSphere platform. The company also provides vSphere-based hybrid cloud computing solutions; and end-user computing solutions, which are designed to enable a user-centric approach to personal computing, and secure access to applications and data from various devices and locations. VMware, Inc. sells its products through distributors, resellers, system vendors, and systems integrators. It has strategic relationship with Verizon Enterprise Solutions and Arista Networks, Inc. EMC Is Reportedly Looking For Options

EMC Corporation (NYSE:EMC) is exploring strategic options that could include a full or partial sale, or a spinoff of VMware Inc. (VMW), Bloomberg reported citing people familiar with the discussions. It is belived that Cisco Systems, Inc. (NasdaqGS:CSCO), Oracle Corporation (NYSE:ORCL), Dell Inc. and Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HPQ) have been contacted by EMC Corporation. No deal is imminent and a sale or spinoff may not happen. Dave Farmer, a spokesman for EMC, declined to comment, as did Kate Holderness, a spokeswoman for Hewlett-Packard; Deborah Hellinger, a spokeswoman for Oracle; David Frink, a spokesman for Dell; and John Earnhardt, a spokesman for Cisco. EMC shares rose less than 1% to $29.68 at the close in New York.
