Carbon Sciences, Inc., a development stage company, engages in developing a technology to make transportation fuels and other products from natural gas methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide. Its gas-to-liquids process enables the transformation of natural gas into liquid transportation fuels, such as gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel, as well as into other products, such as hydrogen, methanol, ammonia, solvents, plastics, and detergent alcohols. The company’s technology depends on a patented catalyst that reacts CO2 with CH4 to produce a synthesis gas mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide, often referred to as syngas that could be fed into existing industrial scale gas-to-liquids processes to produce liquid fuels. It intends to license its intellectual property portfolio to catalyst manufacturers, as well as to energy, chemical, and engineering firms worldwide for the purposes of syngas and fuel production. The company was formerly known as Zingerang, Inc. and changed its name to Carbon Sciences, Inc. in April 2007. Carbon Sciences, Inc. was founded in 2006 and is based in Santa Barbara, California.
